Hi all. I had KW Clubsport suspension fitted yesterday.

The Clubsports are a development of the tried and tested KW V3 suspension, the main differences being that the Clubsports have a stiffer spring rate and come with adjustable top mounts as standard - designed with track use in mind.

Initially i have the settings set to the middle whilst i see how i get on with them. The kit also drops the car by around 30mm once it has settled down a little.

I was worried that the kit would be too harsh for everyday driving but so far i am very impressed. Even on their middle settings, it feels very similar to the OEM CSL suspension for comfort levels.

I had Clubsport suspension on my old M3 which was excellent when set up properly, the only thing I didn't like, and only found out later on, was that it doesn't have a warranty as it's a purely track based kit?? Anyone else found this out?

Find that hard to believe, I know if there were any issues they would be able to sort... speaking from experience of KW and there set up and team in general.

Did you encounter any issues then ? If so what ?

I didn't have any problems with my Clubsport kit, but only had it on the car for a couple of months, but I could understand why a company wouldn't cover warranty on a piece of kit that is going to have the life hammered out of it on a track! They could effectively be replacing the components forever!! Although I could be wrong, just relaying what I had been told.

I am under a similar impression, but i think that is for the more expensive kw,

The road clubsport are basicall updated v3 with adjustable topmounts.

That is correct, there is no formal warranty on KW only an informal "we'll look after you" from KW UK. This depends on circumstances, who you are etc. We've had a couple of warranty claims knocked back but I understand some have been covered, there is no real way of knowing until you have a problem and need to make a claim.

I thought as much! Would it then be better to buy a V3 kit and add adjustable top mounts yourself? Or is the Clubsport version miles better??

V3 is essentially a road kit with springs rates and dampers adjustable for stiffer settings for track work. Clubsports are essentially race dampers (stiffer generally) with road seals. KW dont feel that race kits should have a formal warranty (we disagree but thats just our opinion). V3 with top mounts work about more than Clubsports (which have the top mount included). There are other options of course from other suppliers.

I'm now confused as to which kit i've bought from Thorney.....

It's either the V3 with clubsport upgrade or the Clubsports i'm now confused lol, doesn't take much :hahaha:

lol. The way I analyse it is that if your car is a road car that sometimes goes on track get V3 (I ran V3 on my CSL when it was a road car). If its a track day car that also goes on the road then get CS. They are quite different, the CS are much much stiffer and consequently better on track but harder work on road. The reason for the big difference is that the range of damper adjustment on the KW's is relatively narrow, V3 cant quite get stiff enough for track work on sticky tyres and CS cant get soft enough for a really compliant ride on the road, hence its a choice. Monotube shocks offer a wider range of adjustment from the same unit hence Intrax, Nitron, Moton can offer the best of both World in some regards. However its a lot of development to get it right from one unit and the monotube design is a lot more sophisticated and hence expensive to manufacture.

Bringing back to life this thread.
I saw in one "Bealo's wholesale" thread that the KW clubsport kit does not have a coilover for the rear suspension but a seperate spring (like the OEM suspension).
Can you confirm this please ?
I don't want rear coilovers as I am not running a cage.

I don't use the CSL a lot anymore other than fast runs and racetrack so I have decided to put a suspension this winter

Rob, the info in this thread is great KW clubsport kit - Factory Settings (http://www.cslregister.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4769)
Thank you please

Where is the best place to get the suspension from, what is the price and is it straight forward to fit, just takes time to corner weight I suppose.

Thanks but after just purchasing the car, now the 6 pot AP's, new CSL rims and Tyres, and finally a full harness belt, will run the car at Circuit de Bretagne, and then do suspension next year.
Just after advise as to what is best to put onto the car in the future.;)
