I went to a very wet Castle Combe today to watch CSL Cup rounds 7/8.

A good spectacle to see the cars in the wet and all it needs now are a few more cars on the grid!

Congratulations to Dan Stringfellow, winner of both races in the modified class, and Darren Humphrey, winner of both races in the standard class! :wav:

Big thanks to John Thorne for the hospitality and it was good meet Register members Alex (AlexGTT) and Kevin (kbird) again.
Jay and Andy were 'no-shows'...

Bet it was a better in the wet for thrills.....Sorry:bigcry: didn't make it, weather was too bad for the baby and 3 year old..it would have been no fun for them. Was hoping to get there later if the weather cleared but it was shocking all day.

Glad you had a good time all.

It was a great day even though the weather wasn't great. My 5 year old son loved it and didn't want to go home. Thanks to John Thorne for shelter and hospitality. Congrats to Daz for winning again and gaining all his signatures for his race license. Have you burned that cross yet?

Nice to see Rob and Kevin again. Kevin put on a good show keeping his monster Seat on track in horrible conditions. I reckon half his grid changed between wets and drys twice while the cars were on the grid! :bigcry: It was mixed conditions all the way through his race from dry sunny to full on monsoon rain.

See you in the farterland next weekend for beers and steak @18.00hrs.

Was a great weekend, apart from me throwing away 3rd place in race 1 by spinning at Quarry :bigcry:

Also had my first race car to car contact with John Thorne at Folly over 100mph which was interesting :hahaha:

Didn't see you around Rob / Alex? You boys were probably too busy clearing up the M&S food in the Thorney tent

Awesome weekend

Love the rain  Really good to see everyone there, and support, both races were interesting could not see a thing with the spray and condensation ..which was more than a little interesting on the those fast combe corners

But learned a lot for my first ever wet race, curly get some wets I missed ya :thumbs:

Although managed to get and stay ahead of one of the modded guys (Hayes) in race 2 after tailing him in race 1, so happy with that...

I reckon by about 5.30pm, Friday evening, all that stress will be forgotten.:beer::beer:
Mind you, I'm such a lightweight drinker these days you'll have trouble understanding me by 5.45pm. :hahaha:

Daz, someone asked me today whether I switch off the traction control 'even in the wet'. It hadn't dawned on me but I just presumed everyone switched it off as I did. Did you or the rest of the Thorney team have traction control on or off during the races at Combe?

Just interested because if I'd left it on it probably would have stopped my spin, but I'm not sure if it would have bogged me down in some of the slower corners where I was deliberately rotating the car round.

All our cars have everything removed, so always off :119: and not got the chance to switch back on...

Yep was definatly interesting with visibility only red brake lights when on to guide you, on the limit and car all steamed up

Cracking pics Daz. In the first shot that's me and my 5 year old son taking shelter under the green and white brolly!

Great corner to watch some power sliding. Stringfellow was hanging it right out on most laps, as was Steve Gill.
