Due to the kids clambering in and out of the rear seats the front seats have picked up a couple of scratches on the back.

What's the best way to repair them ?

Have considered "wrapping" them in carbon fibre ?

Yep i think carbon fibre wrapped kids will prevent any further scratches

I would cover the back in CF wrap as its quite dull and tacky imho ;)

How easy (or hard) is it to remove the backs? I think I'd consider getting them repainted to match the existing finish or maybe do them body colour?

Hold up, what about some fake-wood fablon?

Few scratches on back of mine too, someone asked before what they were made out of but no1 answered me.

I can never see them (didnt see them when I was buying the car) cos I aint in the back ever, but it bugs me that they are there.

Anyone?

Just wondering if anyone has managed to find out the type of paint used on the back of the seats?

I've had no luck whatsoever - and have tried every avenue I can think of - including Recaro directly without a reply (even through one of their reselling agents I've had no luck).

Would be good if we can finally figure out what this special coating is and where to get it.

There is one other avenue that I've yet to try, but I can't be 100% certain that the product is the same. On our rear view mirrors, the housing is in a similar type of rubbery coating. The rear view mirrors are manufactured by Magna Donnelly - I've yet to email them to find out what this coating is - they are probably more likely to tell me what it is.

Didn't notice this topic. Try a product called plasti-dip. Its used on interior and exterior parts. Im sure any good body shop will be able to advise.

Should be OK as its Vinyl so pretty strong ...

RECARO SENT ME THIS

Dear Mr. Wardlaw,
Thank you for your email.
Recaro UK only deal in after market seating, so I'm sorry we do not have any information on these seats as they are original equipment, please contact BMW who should be able to help you by contacting their supplier.
Regards,
Michelle

Has anyone been able to find out what paint BMW used for the backs of the front seats? Anyone tried using plasti-dip as suggested in an earlier post?

Cheers
