Have you guys thought about including the number of your car? From memory it's related to the last 3 digits of your chassis number.

Is this true, I haven't heard of this before? If so im 218/422 04 Reg.

You?

There were more than 422 built.....just 422 that came to the UK. I believe it is relevant and puts your car in sequence of build.

Edit...there would be an original thread of something similar on M-Torque although it was a couple of years ago now. The badges (1 of 422) were produced solely for the UK market by BMW GB.

It still doesn't sound right to me as my (your old SG) car was one of the last built in Dec 03 so surely i would be a later build number than 510? Unless of course they built in excess of 1000 CSLs in Dec 03?

Bmw have told us the cars were not in order and so the build numbers dont run like 1/2/3/4 as the cars were pulled of the production line when needed.

Yep, I remember somthing similar, and it never made sense at the time either lol. You'd think being German they would have been more methodical :hahaha:

It would be a useful way of keeping track of individual cars though and not relying on a registration plate which often changes. Just a thought anyway.
