Hi All

Strange request but is there any members who have a black CSL in or around the surrounding area of derbyshire?

I had the front painted (wings, bonnet, bumper), where the door meets the wing i think there is a clear difference in colour and wanted to match it against another CSL.

Im seeing the bodyshop guy tomorrow to discuss it. I think hes not checked the paint code and simply used the paint he was using to paint a 5 series touring (~1999 ish) :bigcry:

Absolutely! Was quite disappointed when I saw one on the road at the weekend!

Also a fair point. You might actually be interested to see my car as it has just had the whole front end re-sprayed and blended into the doors, IMHO they have done a fantastic job if you want to compare and take some pics you are more than welcome, but I'm not on your doorstep!

If you could post some of the drivers side near the gills as per my photo that would be great :)

The guy who has done this i have used for the past 6 years for various motors and this is the first time its gone wrong.

Thanks a lot Dan

Quick update - took it to the bodyshop last night for him to have a look at. He told me he didnt paint the car one of his guys did but he knew the wing wasnt completely painted, but was fully clearcoated.

He said he painted a 5 Series Touring bonnet in the same colour and that was a perfect match. i never saw the car but did see the whels he was refurbing for him and the looked like they would be on a 1999 ish - looking at the paint charts and BMW never did a Sapphire Black 5 series for that year (not until 2003)

To flatten the clearcoate they then used G3 (very abrasive polish), which they didnt refine with a lighter polish, giving the clearcoate a hazy/milky look and making the coulr seem grey.

BUT

When i got home last night i realised that he couldnt have just painted the front part of the wing and blown the rest in as last monday when i dropped in he showed me in the prepping booth with all my bits fully primed!!

I will see what he says after i give it a light polish to remove the "milky" clearcoat, then i will call his bluff.

Why cant people just be honest :bigcry:
