View Full Version : My Poorly CSL - EML light

On the final day at the Ring last weekend, i flew up over the crest onto Flugplatz and as i accelerated through the right-hander the car felt immediately underpowered... I looked at the dash to see the EML light glaring at me... :smt009

To cut a long story short, i drove back in 'limp-home' mode and made it home ok. I was surprised to find that even in this 'safe' mode i was able to cruise happily at 90mph on the autoroute only struggling a little on hills!

BMW have just rang me to say that both throttle potentiometers have gone and are being replaced under warranty. They also report that the NSR ball joint is looking dodgy after i mentioned some light knocking noises from the rear. Not sure if this will be covered though? :smt017

Also, much to my annoyance, despite me expressly telling the service bloke not to let the valet clean my car as it has been recently detailed (and making sure this was annotated on the service paperwork), they have gone and cleaned it anyway... :banghead: FFS! They can stand-by to pay for another - fekin retards :moan:

My limp mode afterSpa was the throttle potentiometer and cost circa £100 to fix maybe less as it was wrapped up with some other goodies.

Good your fixed now though.

Do you have BMW or 3rd party warranty out of interest?

I found out today that i will be getting a new windscreen too!

This is due to a rather nasty stone chip that i suffered from DazblackCSL's CSL whilst following him on a lap round the Ring last weekend!

This will be covered on my Admiral insurance though.

A new screen? Will it affect your NCB and will you have to pay your Excess? I'm with Admiral too, just interested. :-)

Doesn't affect the NCB. I just have to pay the £70 windscreen excess. Pretty pleased really as the screen was getting tatty and had a few other minor chips besides
