Hi Guys
Picking up the CSL tomorrow. Can't wait!
Canyou tell me...
What tyre pressures you would recommend?
What oil you recommend?
What the oil level should be?
What brake pads you recommend for standard brakes?
Anything else I might need to know the the 200 miles trip back home tomorrow

32psi all round
There is only one type of oil allowed by BMW, see oil thread in technical section.
I like the oil to be around 0.8 to 1.0 on the electronic readout, don't like it at 1.1 as it doesn't read any higher than that so you don't know if it is overfilled.

That was what else I was going to ask. Is V Power best? that's what I've been using on the Scoob anyway, so already a valued customer of Shell. :hahaha:

I made the move from Scooby to CSL about 6 months ago and initially i missed the turbo that gave you a kick in the back, but in reality the CSL is a progressive monster that just keeps going and going, leaving the scooby out of breath.
The huge difference in power is the pull from 100mph upwards, oh and the noise is more refined than a scoob and in all ways better
You will be suprised at the MPG from the CSL too, for such a beast of a car you can get some decent mpg, even with some lunacy (24mpg is my average), whereas the scoob was more high teens.
I use V-Power because i am a brand whore, plus i used it for the scoob. If i am desperate i put in BP Ultimate.
1) V-Power
2) Tesco 99
3) BP Ultimate
I wish i was picking mine up for the first time again :bigcry:

Thanks for the replies guys!
Definitely going to be a big change for me, my last 4 cars have been 4WD, with the last impreza having a forged 2.5 and pushing 480 bhp and 509 lbft. But I am really looking forward to it.
Are there 3 modes of traction, on, off, and track?
also, how the hell do I get the posts to read from top to bottom rather than bottom to top when I log in, I must have pressed something somewhere :hahaha::hahaha:

i spent two years driving it with sport off/on/off/on and arguing that it was a bit twitchy with sport 'on' early doors
then got Simpons to turn it 'on' as default and it drives perfectly well so i have been talking shite for two years now!:smokin:

See don't get that one as you can hear the engine better with the window up...with it down it gets distorted with the bloody wind noise...

I agree with Andy K, definately sounds better with the window up, wind noise is high due to the speeds you'll be travelling! I'll never forget my journey home after picking her up.......

Congratulations.
Hope the drive went well.
I too would suggest leaving DSC on until you're used to it. The CSL was the first RWD i ever had coming from an escos before. First time I turned it off at Bedford I was round like a spinning top :smt053 However I had been using m-mode all day and was used to just planting it out of corners.......

Drive home was fun, although by the time I hit the road it was dark, showery in places and I was knackered! 210 mile trip was good to start getting to know the car. First impressions are really good. Will have a lot of chance to have a play with it over the next week in various modes.
Definitely glad I made the choice of the CSL though.
When's the next trackday?

Quick update - loving the car!
Apart from an intermittent warning light it's been spot on, had a week off work so had some time to play with it over the last few days. Took some pics after a clean today, will add them tomorrow once I get them off the camera.
Definitely feel the car needs a brake upgrade, which I knew I'd want at some point but otherwise it's spot on. So need to do a trackday soon"
Am based in bucks,. Fancy a go at Combe of Silvertsone (preferably southern circuit) anyone at any of these any times soon?
p.s my posts still display in reverse order, the most recent first rather than lasts on all threads - please tell me if/how I can fix this!
