Im running Michelin PS2s which I get on with very well, although people seem to be raving about the new Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrics (see other thread).

Cups for me all year round, but I don't use it as a daily runner. Have found the cups to be fine and have lasted quite a long time. Drove back from Wales in the pi$$ing rain and was still doing a good speed with no bother from them even though they are very worn. Wouldnt like to chance it on ice !

I got home last night to find a VAT refund of £740 waiting for me in the form of a cheque!!!!

Am in desperate need of some new cups so that has come in sooooo handy!!!! Will try and get through winter on the set I have and then new set for next year !!! :-D :-D

cups are great on track but dont last long

gaz345 from this site had eagle f1s on his escort cosworth
he will be a better man to tell you but he has just got PS2s for his CSL

Hmmmm decisions! :banghead:
Ive Been Running Bridgestone Potenza's on my Evolution and found them great! Nobody seems to be running em on the M3s... Are cups really worth the extra money for an all year round tyre or will the Ps2s Be the Overall Winner for Track n Safe enuf when it rains

For me, the cups are fine even when it rains, just dont take the pi$$ with them or do anything too erratic! Its only standing water anyway you really have to really worry about and again, when I had that on the motorway, I just eased off and no problemo.

If you are doing a lot of track days the cups won't last long but I think you should have to have at least one set of cups during your ownership to be able to compare to the rest !

Again, will depend on your mileage - I dont do loads of miles so mine have lasted me well and are only now borderline.

You can get a set of cups for around the same price as PS2's and if you are really friendly with your dealer.. you may get them trade

I cant really comment on the PS2's as I only used them for a short time after I first got the csl and before I really got to know the csl properly

cool - would love to go to the Ring!! Maybe in the next year or so!! Definitely want to get to Snett next year so will see how it goes.

Took me a while to get used to the csl...esp SMG as it was my first bmw after coming from an S3 and before that, an old 1985 astra gte.

Look forward to hearing what you decide and what you think of them !!

Enjoy!

IRL - I had an Evo VIII FQ-340 with a "few" mods, running 380bhp/380ftlbs so was in the same boat as you really. Am a bit more cautious in this weather than I was in the Evo. You'll get the feel of it soon enough :) Mines a SG '53' CSL by the way. It had PS2s all round when I bought her, so when the rears needed changing I went straight for those, didn't really think. But I might try Cups for the summer (plus a trackday or 2 + a few ring trips).

Sweet looking motor mate! have you got her lowered? did you adjust the camber for going to the ring? and how did she handle? and more cautios on the ring to the evo???? How does she drive on the ring compared to the evo? where you there last easter?

mole
21-11-2007, 10:28 PM
Thanks :) Nope she is completely standard (just looks low because of the speed I was chucking it into the Karusel I guess), and the suspension geometry is standard road set up as far as I know.
Handling amazed me!! I was impressed before, after 1 trackday at Brands plus my road use but the 'ring just showed how good our cars are.
I started out very cautiously, being new to the car & RWD in general but it filled me with confidence and after a couple of laps I was absolutely flying. Compared to the Evo, harder work, more concentration required, the Evo was slightly dull in comparison... too easy to go quick. But CSL is so rewarding. You won't regret taking yours there. Last time I was there was July I think, wasn't easter anyway.

Hi Guys,
So i went to get prices on the Ps2s and Cups Yesterday, He has to get back to me but informed me of the New BF Goodrich Tyres with a softer Compound i know the WRC are using BF Goodrich this year and i can get a full set for 880 Euro looking after myself! So any thoughts on this or have you heard of what there like?

Goodyear F1 asymmetrics at tyrexpress.com, fantastic value for the money. I have 275/30 rear and 245/35 front. PS2s also excellent but a bit more expensive. Had them before the new Goodyear came out.
