I have 2 keys, my old e46 M3 had 2 main keys, 1 metal key with flat plastic top and one complete plastic key so I would have thought the CSL should have the same ?
I'm not 100% - Mark may be right with the 3

BMW can tell you how many keys are on the cars dme and can add or remove lost keys
So if you have only 1 or 2 keys they can take the extra keys you dont have off the car so they wont work

Each DME can store up to 4 keys ... afterwards it's a new unit.
the plastic grey key is a valet key - that doesn't allow you to open the glove box or the boot.

How does that work - I used to just press the button by the bonnet release :blalalala:

But what if the Valet boy wants to clean the boot.... :hahaha:
I've got 2 keys and a plastic one. One another note, after reading about people with flat keys I used my 'spare' one tonight. After not using it for nearly 3 years, I can safely report that it opened and started the car. No bother Johnny! :smokin:
