We'll be out later in the year Englebert, testing and (lots of) driver training first, stickers went on to make it look less like a chav car and more like a race car and to get some shots for a website :D

What lap times did you do Nathan?
shimmy
05-05-2009, 01:29 PM
my best was 2m 54.0s tucked up behind Curly
interestingly my top speed was 6 mph faster than last time at the end fo the straight after eau rouge
not sure if i was getting more grip through ERouge with the intrax, or Insp 1 made the car run better or air temp helped but

Slow Steve - far too slow. very low 2:56 with traffic and carrying 115kg of ballast (passenger, seat, mounts and harnesses) on utterly knackered second hand slicks. Wrong front bumper and so splitter too if that makes a difference. Theoretical best using 5 sectors was 2:50.5 which shows that
a) there was too much traffic on the timed runs
b) I need to learn to not make mistakes every 3rd corner
Massive learning curve for us now, only got the car back a week ago so we have to get as much seat time as possible.
Think the chav wing is costing speed on Kemel too i think, car was brilliantly planted at Blancimont though, in fact all the longer faster corners the car was feeling awesome, I struggled in the slower bits to be honest, need to have a think about setup.
Gears are confusing too with the different final drive, few places are a bit more awkward now like running out of 4th having to pull 5th before Eau Rouge and Phouon - end up with not only an extra upshift but also a downshift.
Need to get to a proper test day rather than track days and need to get brand new slicks on 10" wide wheels to get a setup sorted.
Shimmy was on the case for sure, good driving from him :D

some great pic there, Nathan your car looks really flat in the corners and the colour scheme suits it, I couldnt seem to get my lap timer working!!! but last night on the ferry I checked a few laps on the video - did a low 2.52 with 2 traffic hold ups in the lap. I will give it check tonight and see if I can see any clear laps, Shimmy was going well for a big lad ;) hopefully put some vid up in the next couple of days if wheelsburg can get his finger out :hahaha:

My best video'd lap is a 2.56 as well, on worn Cups with a shagged gearbox and a passenger  It's the second lap in this vid: http://vimeo.com/2180418
What weight do you reckon the car is now Nathan? I ask because my car stripped out was 1374kg without about 1/2 tank of fuel, but in the video it was just below full, so allowing about an extra 0.76k x 30 litres = 22kg, plus driver & pax = 145kg, so total weight of the car in the vid I estimate to be about 1541kg.

1393kg with 15L of fuel (about 10kg lighter than it was before).
With a full tank + 202kg of people so around 1620 - 1625kg? Gearbox light on too, seemed ok though. Traffic and mistakes were the issues.
ETA: looking at the DL1 data it was a 2:54.9

Now now Curly I distinctly remember paying 30 Euro for your 98 RON fuel and you buying a syringe to fill up every two laps!
I even believe you have a carbon fibre left leg to save weight!
