Well after deciding to take the CSL to work this fine bank holiday!

The SMG warning light has come on after a spirited exit from a junction :gayfight:

Car was fine to drive home, just took extra care not to load engine and box, I thought maybe it would go out after switching off and restarting but no such luck!

Would the SMG reset i.e 40mph into N then pull both paddles get rid of the light or is it a trip to BMW to be on the safe side:bigcry:

Cars under warranty but pissed coz its Milbrook on sat

I would get BMW to check it
I get the gear light on after a good thrash but it resets after i turn the car off

The fault clears its self

After 24hrs it seems to have cured itself, will ring in the morning to see what they advise.. but may just leave it until after Milbrook see if it crops up again...

Seems a bit strange that a car designed purely as a track toy cant handle a bit of back road abuse :gayfight:

Will aim for a new gearbox, diff and a few other bits to make the warranty claim worthwhile :hahaha:

I had that light come on as well. When the car goes in for service I will ask them about it ( wonder if it logs that it has been on?)but I'm like you, I want to get gearbox, clutch and diff if I can:smokin:. Doubt they will do it though.

At the moment I can't even get mirrors and actuator / permometer changed under warranty

(probably not spelt right:whistle:)

You would of thought they would be banging through the claims to keep the workshop busy in the present climate :hahaha:

That's what I thought, although it was publish today BMW are finding things hard, they may have told all their dealers to knock them back....

You tend to get this happen from time to time, its a signal error on the solenoid (which is a £10 part) so fires off an error code, tends to happen if it gets hot or damp, replace it and its fine or usually it will go away (likely to return). No doubt a dealer will replace whole car under warranty under "scary light on, must replace" term of the warranty :)
