Anyone else tried these on their CSL? I've got 275/30 and 245/35 19s on my car and they've been awesome. I would've had 235/35 at the front to better match the rolling road circumference but they couldn't get stock. In the dry they give excellent grip (better than the PS2s I had) and are very progressive in the wet. They are also a lot cheaper, I paid around £620 all in for all 4.

So you find them much better than the PS2
Are they better in the dry / wet ?
Have you used them on track ?

I was kicking myself when I read about them in EVO after buying PS2's.
They appear to be the dogs b........
I run F1's on my VR6 and they are great. :smokin:

Rezmund, you got 4 Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric, not just Goodyear Eagle F1's for £620, where did you source them from as that seems a good deal compared to the £800'ish for the PS2 option.
Thanks, Nick
cups for me next, may need some after tomorrow :blalalala:

Not used them on track but once warm they have a lot more grip than previous Goodyear models (wet and dry) and feel much better all round than the PS2s. Admittedly the profiles I'm running now don't match the PS2s I had.
I bought the rears off EBay for £290 all in and bought the fronts for £330 from mytyres. I'd ideally have bought 235/35 front but couldn't get UK stock as the tyres are quite new.
I wouldn't say they are a track tyre but an excellent road choice for UK conditions. Will keep people posted on my views of them.
Have a good weekend.

I need a new set all round, so think I will into this - cups not ideal for everyday/allweather driving so want to change them. Thanks!!

There are currently good prices/deals on www.tyrexpress.com for the Asymmetrics, around £626 delivered for 275/30 and 245/35. Better priced than mytyres.

A good comparison here http://goodyear.tiremedia.com/news/44.html
GY F1s seem to beat the PS2s in most catagories.
Price wise, for exact same size - F1s are almost £400 cheaper
just had 235/265 fitted @ £600 all in.
very impressed so far - they are massively quieter and more comfortable ride than the Contisport C2 older option.
grip seems very good but not really done much in wet conditions yet.
will report back after forthcoming Scotland jaunt.
£600 fitted is even better than my £620 fitted.
Where have you been mate

I've done 1 track day with these fitted. The track was damp and greasy in the morning and faultless, admittedly I didn't push to the limits, in the afternoon when it was dry they just got better and better. I had PS2's on for a previous track day and I have to say I did prefer the Goodyears.
They have been faultless since new. I am a fan of Goodyear's, I need to have more miles on them to see if there is any major difference from the GSD3's.
So far so good.
I did pay more for mine though :banghead: teach me to shop around....

Notice that people are running different sizes........
I have 235 fronts, and 265 rears, which seems to be the common setup, but what about those that ruuning different sizes?
What is the (dis)advantage to doing this?

Surely 245/275 means a harder ride? I assume also that the speedo reading would be out as well.

Exactly what I was wanting to hear  As Im thinking I'll run these on road and track, cos Ive not got the luxuary of two set of wheels.
Grip and feel wise, you reckon they're better than PS2s?
Anyone know what the treadwear rating is on the F1s and PS2s?

Running the Goodyears on mine at the moment. Came with the car an they're very strong indeed. Grip + traction when cold is good, gentle breakaway but to be honest I don't push them. I feel that I'd rather keep the car on its wheels and on the road.
Would certainly recommend them although I know TW&HW recommend the PS2's or cups.
I must admit that I would love to try the CSL on cups in decent weather, grip must be surreal!

I will be getting four fitted tomorrow (235/35 & 265/30) as my rears were a bit dangerous today in the wet and I have found a pothole induced dent in one of my front alloys and a nasty looking split going up the sidewall! :bigcry:
I did it picking up my perfect set of CSL alloys with cups on so.......
Running Falkens at the moment and although they feel good in the dry, both the front and the backs don't feel grippy in the wet. We'll see if the Goodyears are better, I'm feeling confident they will.

Nice one, let us know how you get on
mine seem to be getting better having done 600 miles since fitting.
they definitely feel different to the Conti Sports - initially I felt less confident with them but am now getting used to them.
The correct pressures seem to be 34F/36R. Will up them slightly when I drive 1600 miles in 4 days next weekend :smokin:

Steve at Simply tyres is meeting me at Silverstone to do it in a couple of hours, £734 fitted and old tyres taken away etc. What do people pay to have a low profile tyre they have supplied themselves fitted to a CSL rim? I have been charged £25 a corner by Quik-Fit (it was an emergency) but they reduced it to £20 as I had all 4 done with new tyres I supplied (ie £80 all up and they said they normally charge a £5 a tyre to dispose of it but would waive that!)

Generally £15 in Leeds to have a tire fitted to an alloy rim :)

Ive never had a tyre fitted to an alloy by another garage, but I wouldnt expect to pay any more than £15 / corner incl. disposal of old ones.

Ohhhhhhhh no! Road use only, I think...
I have these for track use: http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj49/GSXRthou/CSL/IMG_3909.jpg

It was difficult to say what the Goodyears are like just from the journey home. They need bedding in and the mould release agent burning off. It was a bit dark when I got home too...

Any new users / further updates on these Goodyear F1 Assys?
Needing to change mine v soon so thinking of GY rather as Michelin, saving £80 a corner. Dont want to move to a lesser tyre though.

So far, I've done two winter Track days on mine (Brands Hatch & Bedford Audrome) and I must say I'm very impressed with them:thumbs:. Very communicative with lost of feedback and tones of grip, even in the wet & cold. I would happily buy another set, when these wear out

Right, 13K miles on my set and I have to say I didn't like them that much. Only used them on the road and I felt the grip wasn't brilliant as I'd expect. That said, I have only had the Assymetrics on the CSL.
Mine are now goosed, the rears are on the tread blocks, the fronts are chamfering on the inside edge, prob 3mm+ across the rest of the rear.
Would I get another set, no.....
However I need a set right now and Quikfit are doing 25% off goodyears. £730 for 235/35 & 265/30. PS2? £1300!!!! :banghead: PZero Neros - £995!
Looks like I am getting another set!

I'm the opposite, I would never buy another set of PS2's after using the goodyears ;)
What about 245/35 and 275/30? Certainly cheaper for GY. I reckon you could get a full set for about £650 by shopping around t'internet and asking Kwikfit to price match. ;)
Not sure what else available in those sizes. I just put new GY rears on 265/30 as I had a puncture and realised that I had 275/30 on before... :banghead: Now I have one OK (4mm) 275/30 in my garage. Fat lot of f*cking good that'll be then...
Thought the GY were OK but nothing to compare against as that's all I've had on the CSL.

Had all four fitted today by some great lads at Kwik-fit in the middle of Swindon (next to the Shell garage). Coped with the lower suspension without a drama, fitted all four without marking the rims, filled with nitrogen and swapped a cup over on my track rims without charging for it.
235/35 & 265/30 for £750 all up! Car feels much better and softer on the bumps already. My old rears were slicks less some tread on 3" on either edge!

What PSI are you guys running with Goodyear F1?
Just checked my tyres cold this morning, think they are over-inflated. This is what I got:
Front Left: 24 PSI
Front Right: 29 PSI
Rear Left: 30 PSI
Rear Right: 30 PSI
Shouldnt it be around 27-28 PSI Cold?

The recommended pressures according to the sticker on the door pillar are (iirc) 2.4 bar all round = 35psi

i run my PS2 at around 33 front and 35 rear cold for general road driving, a bit higher than usual but reduces edge wear
cups i keep at 32 front and rear (they do seem to generate more heat and therefore pressure gains even on the road)

All manufacturer recommended inflation pressures are based on cold tyres.
* I run my PS2 road tyres based on 35psi cold
* I run my track Cup tyres based on 26psi cold (as their pressures generally increase to an optimal 32-33psi when hot)
Hope this helps clear your confusion!

those are all relating to track where you get 4-6 psi gain with temperature increases.

I think I got it. So if I want to run my goodyear F1's on the track I should make sure they run about 32-35 psi hot.... Which means I might have to take some air out.
On the road I should leave them as 32-35 psi cold as they will never warm up properly...
