Hello everyone,

I'm new and I'm very close in getting a CSL and would like to ask a question.

I viewed the car couple of days ago and I noticed that when the aircon is on the exhaust seems as though its out of breath. Is this normal?

I'm a bit concerned that something might be up. Any help is much appreciated.

Many thx

As far as I know, yes it is. Its the load coming on the compressor for the AC and you'll find the car will 'hunt' a little when idling. Switch the AC off and it will idle steadily.

Mine does it too and unless mine if guffed too, then its normal. I had my AC 'serviced' last year, and is in fantacker condition.

Hope this helps, good luck with the CSL hunt!

Sounds a little weird!

Aircon will labour the engine ever so slightly as it takes the electrical load from the A/C system but the exhaust note shouldn't change noticeably?

Hi sailorbaz,

many thanks for your reply! Yes, it sounds just like what you are describing. Weird that the CSL would do this and a normal E46 M3 does not.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the DME software not being the latest version?

Hi glendog,

yes, its kind of funny. My other half test drove it, when she arrived back and park the car, she left the aircon on and I noticed that the CSL was "hunting for breath like", but when we switched off the aircon everything was fine and the exhaust note just returned to a smooth purr. So Weird.

thx alot guys! That has put my mind to rest on that.

I'm going to ask something that is Blasphemy.

Can I fit E46 M3 electric seats into the CSL?

I'd like to preserve the recaros and I'd be using the car daily. Also, the mrs would like to use it too sometimes and the recaro's just too low for her.

thx.

Digi - you looking to put e46M leather ones in? Not sure how the wiring would work. The height of the seats are adjustable btw - ask Glendog, he's vertically challenged :hahaha:

Firstly - don't do it! :banghead: :hahaha:

Secondly - just adjust the OEM Recaro seat base fixing to suit you - it will be a lot more comfy then. When i first got my CSL the seats were fixed as low as they go (both front and back bolts) and it felt like i was sat in a bathtub - like someone may have mentioned i am not the tallest...! All sorted now and they are really good

The seats swap will work on (plugs for the seat belt pre-tensioner are the same and also the same for the seat occupancy sensor on the passenger side - non on the driver side, just the pre-tensioner wiring) - you do need to find manual seats, the electric ones won't work as the CSL don't have that part of the harness.

hehehe - yes, I'm a pussy cat. :hahaha:

You mean the CSL buckets are height adjustable? Really! How's that work, we only managed to make it go forward and backwards. :smt085

Yes, need to put the e46 m3 sport seats in as I'm getting hassled by the mrs big time as she wants to drive it. :smt067

Glendog must be like me then, want the best but the mrs makes me a pussy as I can't keep the buckets in-place. :smokin: Just kidding.....

bugger...manual only. :hahaha: Thx a million for the heads up.

These seats should quiet her down. Drowning in neg. comments abt the buckets. Uncomfortable, can't breath, tight fit.......dame, women are a hassle.

Why's it so loud? Is it a good car? darrrrrrrrr......:hahaha:

:supz: But I'm getting skinned by the mrs. :hahaha:

I'll adjust the recaro's first, then train her to like them. Last resort then find some manual seats.
