View Full Version : iPod adaptor
I'm looking to connect my iPod to the hu, and am faced with 3 main options:
1) BMW iPod adaptor
2) DICE adaptor
3) Dension Gateway/IceLink
I've used the Dension in the past to good effect, but it does not display the track names on the radio display (Business Radio CD).
Does anyone here have the DICE adaptor, and does it work as intended and display the track names on the display?
The BMW adaptor seems overpriced compared to the Dension/DICE.
Previous experiences with any of the above are welcome.
TIA :)

Dension does display the track names on the business cd display. Or at least mine did.
The best option have is the Intravee II but this is only applicable to BMW OEM S(h)at Nav.
The other option is to go for an aftermarket HU with Ipod interation.

The Dension cable lets you access the iPod menus, browse by playlist, album, artist etc, shows track names, let's you skip forward and back between songs and within songs. It's good.

I have an Alpine head unit which controls the iPod. I sold my old OEM Business CD for almost £160 on 'Fleabay'! :hahaha:

Cool - sounds like the Dension is the one to go for (again).

No Idea - Dension IceLink Plus or similar, mine is in a cardboard box of stuff removed from the car waiting for Nords :D
Once I go and grab it from Simpsons I can see if there is a part number on it for you if it'd help?
quick update: installed a Dension GW300 with USB, iPod, and Aux input. Installation was quite easy, but the configuration/setup was a 'mare! :banghead:
Dension instructions are lousy and they aren't weren't updated for the latest firmware the unit came with. Lots of pressing random buttons to try and get it set, but a patient second attempt last night finally got it sorted. :supz:
Now have full text display on the Business CD including menus, and can access the iPod sorting via playlists, albums, genres, artists, songs, etc all via the headunit. Text scrolls displaying names too which is nice. Worth taking a look at the GW300 if you want proper integration as this provides. iPod and Aux/USB connectors sit in the glovebox.

Yes... I had the same difficulties setting mine up, but once done it works very nicely and the physical installation bit is actually pretty easy.

i'm just trying to install one of the dension 300 units but i can't get it to play through the stereo. It recognises that it is there and the stereo goes to the cd changer controls but it won't make a sound.
anybody found this and know what i'm doing wrong?
