With the nicer weather on its way, Im considering buying a bike.
I fancy a Racer, as Ive had a go on a mates and loved how effortless it was to cycle at speed. I dont have a clue about them though, so could do with some advice.
Size? Im about 5'10.
Make?
Gears?
Anything else?
As its just summit I fancy, and will only be when I can be ersed - if at all - Im just looking for something cheap as chips. My mate paid £1000 for his, second hand :-O
Cheers lads.

are you a pro :hahaha:
If you are only going to use it sporadically, I would suggest a Hybrid.
I use mine once a week and its the best of both worlds.
Race tyres and good speed capability without looking like a tour de france wannabe with drop handles etc:hahaha:

I'm into MTBs so can't offer advice on a road bike, but make sure you get fitted for the size. Different makes are different sizes, as with clothes shops...

Cyclists - advice?
Yep, if you miss them with the front wing, carry a passenger so they can get them with the door!

Hi Bryce, this is what I do for a living so if I can be of any help don’t hesitate to give me a shout, pm me or drop me a line to jonathan@ciclisport.com (jonathan@ciclisport.com) though I'll be away mountain biking in Scotland until Monday.
englebert has gave you excellent advice, size is top priority & can differ from manufacture to manufacture. Triple chainsets are not as popular as once were, I do see the reasoning why some people opt for them but the majority of bikes we sell with a triple when returned for a service the granny ring is normally sitting mint-unused. Those who want/need a lower gear ratio a compact chainset is the best option.
I’ll post a few examples from the other end of the scale that I have completed in the last 4-6 weeks ranging from £4500.00 to £8000.00 but we cater for all budgets.
By the way Bryce, did you hear anything about a CSL racing a Scooby on the Dumfries bypass about 3-4 weeks ago, think it was a 2door?

I did hear something actually! He's a friend of a friends - friend. It'd be a blue P1 Scooby. If you come across him again just give him a wide berth, he likes to crash 'em :hahaha:. Story I heard was that he'd followed two SG CSL's around the bypass. I asked if they were Irish plated as I had a suspicion it'd be you or Whowop, as there's NO other CSLs in the area. He didnt think they were but looks like my suspicions were right. Hope ya showed the numpty what the CSL can do!
On the bike front, thanks for the advice lads, and them fancy Specialized ones would get my mate slevering  He has a cheapo £1400 one.

Ha he didn’t have a chance! We were going up the 75 approaching the Shell station & met him coming the other direction, he turned right away & came in pursuit. I waited (made sure it wasn’t the police) until he caught up on the carriageway & nailed it, couldn’t believe the distance I pulled on him!
Should’ve said the two of us where there (sorry Donk), both cars are on English plates... probably couldn’t see mine!! Here’s a reminder for him.

I can vouch for what Jonny does here, those bikes are unbelievable. Was in his store a few weeks ago and picked up one of these bikes. In fact, it wasn't so much as picking it up as trying to stop it floating away! I was truly amazed at how light the whole thing was. Must feel like you pedalling fresh air.
Will be heading in in a couple of week Jonny as per my mail. Will be scouting out something for myself, but Martina can stick to her wee Barbie bike with stabilisers .

Nice one for showing that P1 how its done, my mate is reading the post down in his cabin at the moment, with great despair as he's into his Jap stuff.
