Well, as some of you will remember I was planning on changing my airfilter last time I was home and so, done it the start of march. The airbox wasn't as bad as I was expecting it to be if I'm honest, the airfilter itself however was proper filthy.

I bought mine from Thorney and it took a little over a week to arrive as they had to order more in.

As far as improvements, changes are concerned, I can safely say that I have noticed no change in the performance, throttle response or most importantly the noise. I had the car on the RR a couple of days later and although I got a Poxy 311Bhp, a mate 2 weeks later got 291 with a 'Normal' M3. So, the 20Bhp is still evident, our mans RR must have been dry humped! :birdman:
A couple of photos.

I ordered one yesterday from Merlin - will collect it from their shop at Castle Combe on Friday whilst i'm up there for the track day

I may get mine rolling roaded again if i get the SuperSprint fitted at Simpson...

I've got one in mine, must be an improvement over the original filter don't you think?

Bealo, I must say that in my limited driving experience, I haven't noticed a difference but you would like to think there would be one wouldn't you?
And the old filter had been in the car from new, as its never had an InspII. Unless the Air filter gets changed at InspI also. I remember on my E36 it was only InspII the air filter was changed though.

I changed mine today out in the sun, the old one was pretty skanking! It was straight-forward but i did notice something odd - can you spot the difference...?

Considering that the filter element is shaped and can only be fitted a particular way, it would appear that my now removed used ITG was made 'back-to-front' as the filter element was round the wrong way (i.e. the finer secondary filter with metal support was on the outside rather than the coarser primary filter - which was inside the airbox)!

The new one 'looks right' with the ITG logo facing out and is a nice snug fit which wont have any issues with debris getting past. :smt023

I have a sneaking suspicion that mine might be like your old one, with the metal mesh part on the outside. Will need to check as this mong never took any photos of the new one going in. Only the old one coming out? If it is wrong, Where do I stand? Contact Thorney and request replacement?

Those old ones are not right. The metal mesh is there to stop the filter foam being pulled into engine.

Will be the 1st thing I check and if its wrong will be on the phone pronto!

Car has only done about 500 miles with the new one in anyway, thats since Feb...its becoming a Garage queen somewhat!

Oh aye, like my new avatar? :hahaha:

Well, I checked mine this afternoon while I was waiting for my garage door paint to dry.

Pleased to say mine was fine, same as your new one glendog and still very tightly packed with no signs of any debris getting by. Well chuffed thank FOOK!
