Given the track is now several seconds faster due to the improvements / upgrades made following the well publicised racing accidents, it shows how good the CSL was / is :blalalala:  :supz:

Was it their usual driver who posts the times?

The one they use currently, but not the one that set the CSL time (Horst Von Saurma).

Apologies if it is a stupid question but do they drive them with DSC on or off? I ask as i have recently seen comments from racing drivers who say they keep aids on as these are more efficient than their skills/reaction times.

And the CSL time was what? 7.50 vs 7.52 36 sec

He did seem to have some problem or drama at Brunchen aka 'YouTube corner'

I am sure that I have also seen that the Competition M2 is heavier or was it slower than the ordinary M2.

The CSL time was done with the TC off, as they commented on the fact that the time was not much slower with it on.

Google is your friend regarding the other questions :blalalala:.

The Problem was that the dct upshifted mid-corner despite him being in auto mode. Thats why he was angry.

M2 Comp is about 50kg heavier than normal m3 i believe, but surely its still faster.

Thank you Mike. The trouble is 'fake news' and verifying sources. ;)

Select, interesting, 50kg verses how much extra power - ? It is a shame they did not 'CSL it' and strip out the heavy seats along with some other bits. Proper Recaro buckets would have been the way forward.

Sorry, dont know where my mind was when i wrote this. :banghead:

He was in manual mode of course, not in auto.
And the M2 CS is 50kg heavier than the M2.

How is the M2CS 50kg heavier than M2?

Sportauto weighed them both in their supertests.
But for an english language source i have found this.

I guess Engine is a big factor.

How is the M2CS 50kg heavier than M2?

They are saying due to the extra cooling requirements of the engine.

"50kg heavier" It is a shame almost as if the M Division could not be bothered.

Porsche GT3 RS are lighter than the GT3 and the Competition should have been made lighter than the M2. To upsell the M2 as a 'Competition' edition and not bother to lighten it..... just lazy economics.

Marketing over meaning if you ask me

They need to get serious about M cars again and not just concentrate on electric vehicles

Doubt they will get serious when it appears the majority of people are more interested about the name/model & what extras are fitted (TV, heated electric seats, etc.) and not just the driving enjoyment. There is not one M car that interests me at the moment. :bigcry:

It has been said before M now stands for marketing

I agree, M2 was a nice touch originally but apart from turbo tech they have gone nowhere with M in 15 years really. Just look at the progress in the 15 years before CSL

To be honest, the E92 GTS in my opinion is a worthy successor to the CSL.
However given its rarity one might argue whether if its even a car or a mere collectors item.

Forgot about the E92 GTS. Enjoyed my run up a hill in it with a BMW pro driver. He preferred it to the M4 GTS.

Fair point but it is still 1543 kilogrammes. Whilst that is not bad these days with all these 'new' lighrtweight materials why can they not make something closer to CSL weight (~1385kg). Basically the e92 M3 GTS vs e46 M3 CSL weight difference is smiilar to the e46 M3 (std) and M3 CSL.

I suppose we could say well done BMW for coming out with such a large car that has a similar weight to a smaller car 10 years older.

As said though they dont seem to be interested in making driver's cars but then 'drivers' too are also in a minority. Look at all the morons driving with satnavs illuminating their screens as well as blocking the view when most of them are on the same old roads they always drive. Constantly on their phones or watching films as they drive.
