The looks is the only thing going for them. That is a quote from an AM sales person. Ex colleague has one. Reliability not its strong point, need deep pockets.

Beautiful looking car. 4.7 the later one (I think) and preferred. 4.3 earlier one ?

Very cool and if you have the urge, go to it. V12 is daddy (and the one to go for according to recent Evo) put obviously pricey. But couple of guys I know had them and moved them on within 12m.

In short, I think you really need to love and commit to brand. Most folks I know look elsewhere (R8, GT Stradale, 997 GTS, Turbo etc.)

I'd heard that reliability is okay as long as you buy with full and complete service history.
A fellow dad at my kids school is the head sales man at one of the Aston dealers in London. He reckons you should buy the later car as they had a big refresh, both inside and outside, at around the time the 4.7 came in.

I'v been seriously thinking about a 4.3 N400 and might still go for one. It's quite a rare and desireable car (has to be manual) and could be a good buy.

The 4.3 engine, whilst down on power compared to the 4.7, is meant to be more charismatic and pleasantly noisy whilst still having similar sort of pace to a CSL (so not slow).

All the early V8's look like great value at the moment but it is a tough choice between a nice early R8 for similar money. Not sure what else is left at this price which is comparable (outside a 997s perhaps)?

In an ideal world it would be 2010/11, 4.7 V8, V12 is way out of my league price wise.

It wouldn't be to replace Cesil, that thing isn't going anywhere!.

There'd be a couple of potential problems though, first one being certain I could afford it and secondly, finding somewhere to keep it. Cesil has the garage as insisted by the Ins Co, we have no drive so the only other place would be on a very narrow street...not good.

Funniest thing though was the sales guy seemed more interested in Cesil than he was in explaining a Vantage to me. He'd never seen one before yet talked as though he knew all about them ( despite asking if the cf roof was aftermarket and if the seats were standard ).

I asked him if the Vantage would be a similar sort of driving experience to Cesil i.e sharp handling, no sloppiness, taut feel etc etc and got the reply "oh it will be much better, this is a genuine sportscar and built as such whereas that's just a saloon and will never drive well".

Surprisingly resisted the urge to say "jump into the passenger seat sunbeam"

I like the look of them, but I love the DBS. I drove a V8V a while ago and was disappointed, it felt very agricultural and big, very British.

I still like the look of them, a V12 would be nice, but I believe they are really thirsty.

Ha - so true. Not much feels tauter and sharper than a CSL, and my worry is that a Vantage would be better to look at than drive (and a track outing would lead to depression...).

Couple of years ago when i wanted to buy me a fast car, an v8 vantage was within my price range aswell. I've learned that they its for the most part a good looking car with a nice sounding engine. Handling isn't terrible but not in the league of an CSL or even normal M3. As far as i am concerned. However i've never got to the point to drive one. CSL was, as usual faster :hahaha:

I would buy one as a Summers Car when you want to take it slow(er).
