Hi gentlemen wondering if someone can point me in the right direction. I am looking to purchase my first Csl and would like a thorough check carried out before purchasing. I am based in Berkshire is there anyone near to me who you guys can recommend and what exactly should be carried out in this check?
Thanks in advance

Hi mate. I would definitely make sure it's had the boot floor done, as I don't think it's a matter of if, but when. If it's been done already, then it's one less thing to worry about. Condition would also be a priority for me, not so much as a few stonechips, but more rust bubbles on front and rear arches. Make sure gearbox performs well in both manual and auto. The important run in service, and general servicing after that. Possibly a leak down test, although a didn't do that when purchasing mine. A few mods like AP brakes of exhaust acceptable in my eyes, but that's subjective. Go with your gut instinct. Good luck with your search. Which colour are you looking to buy?

Bartletts in Cambridgeshire or Munich legends in Sussex
Had my pre purchase inspection done at Bartletts and good job I did as the boot floor was cracked ( which main dealer had missed on 2 separate occations ) along with a few other things
I managed to negotiate a good discount of the asking price and left the car with them
I collected it a couple of weeks later with all the issues sorted and has been immense ever since
The best value £300 odd quid you'll ever spend

Bartletts are bit far for me although I have heard good thing about them, however I gave Birds a call who are more local to me and they too seemed to mention the same checks as Bartletts, compression test, smg check, floor etc etc. I'm looking at SG car hopefully all works out, I will post details soon.

i wouldn't worry about traveling a bit as I'm sure the extra piece of mind you'd get from having a well known specialist check the car over far outweighs a few miles on the motorway
Best of luck and hope you get sorted

Birds have a vast amount of experience with M power cars, They have a very good reputation. No first hand experience I must point out!

Bartletts is worth the extra miles
Damian and Gareth will find anything that's not A1.
Make sure you have the head flow & leak checked.
compression test in isolation is useless.
flow and leak test will give the HG a good health check.

Is this something Bartletts will cover in their check?

Also recommend James @ Chandlers, Brighton. As said Gareth as well. Not many other places worth it tbh...
Unfortunately, you prob need to travel. But it's a chunky investment and worth the trip.

Yes it seems that way many in favour of Barletts. I'm assuming the main dealers will not go the extra mile in regards to compression test etc?
I had a main dealer do my compression tests
