Nick, you do realise once the car sells this thread, and all the other new threads you've created, will become utterly pointless?
If you are going to create a new thread for every new CSL that comes on the market then it would be more beneficial if you put some information in the title (eg. SG, 40k miles, £100k) and possibly copied the ad in the thread itself. This way people will have something tangible to look at rather than a hundred threads, that all have the same title, with dead links.
Other than that, keep up the good work on the Neighbourhood CSL Market Watch Scheme

Why would anybody want to buy a car for £60k when bmw carnt supply a basic part, like carbon roof etc. On a 11 year old top of the range car . Not sure I would again, before any body knocks me I bought two from new and we still have them .

I'm with you!!! Had 22 months of agro with Bmw. it got spotted at Bartletts after new engine and guy bought it without me advertising it.
Do not regret the sale.
Markets on hold at the moment awaiting Brexit vote

It's nice that values have risen but frankly it's getting tiresome on all of the forums and threads dominated by threads about values on all cars and what's going to be flying up in value next??
2 decisions in this market, cash in and attempt to buy something else (I can't as everything I would of bought has gone daft £ wise) or remind yourself why you bought a CSL in the first place. Great cars and an ocassion everytime you pull it out the garage. So easy to forget why we love cars in a market place where even sh*te cars are expensive!!
Agree just gave mine a summer blast today .. That noise is awesome

In fairness this costs £23 million and I'm not sure the spare parts situation is any better.

How much of that Billy is down to the fact that you couldn't use it for 2 years.
It did look the bollox @ Barts.

am i right in thinking you had a boxster spyder before the csl ?
Reason I ask is I am having thoughts of going the other way , selling the csl and getting a spyder

You will regret it. A Porker dealer has been trying for years. Test drives, driving experience, etc. Buy a Caterham to go with cesil, much more fun for those roof down moments.

It looked brand new, bought new rims, badges, suspension, brakes etc hence it got spotted, inspected and bought.
Waiting for parts and being let down every quarter with dates made my decision up. Bloody awesome car but my E46 M3 is ticking all the boxes at the moment.
Got plenty of good memories of the car and track action :)

I think it is funny how people complain about the availability of the roof
if the lacquer is damaged then can easy get it redone, if the roof suffers enough damage that it needs replaced then most of the time the rest of the shell has probably seen some pretty substantial (probs write off) damage :hahaha:
besides the likes of karbonious do a direct replica which most people wouldn't know the difference with, unlikely someone is going to pull the head liner during a pre sale inspection to check for a BMW sticker too :hahaha:

Not the point, should still be available, one of our cars has had a new roof about four years ago. After a miner bump , am not knocking the cars! just part availability, anybody paying top money would expect genuine parts on things like carbon roof and other uneak parts that make Csl what it is, or you may as well just get a M3

Yeah I had a Boxster Spyder, great car BUT.. I view the CSL as Bmw at the time putting 100% of their efforts into making the car the best they possibly could which in my eyes makes it special. The spyder was great especially if you like getting the roof off but a lot of that car is marketing at its finest it's honestly not that much better than a normal Boxster S 987 imo although it does look a fair bit more special. You won't be disappointed with the handling it's a great drive.

There is no substitute for genuine OEM parts.
After all is that not why you have been buying up all the genuine CSL parts for your car rather than stick with the repo parts?? lol

although roof wise i've conceeded that i'm likely going to go Karbonious roof due to the lack of OEM availability (unless one comes up for sale magically), there was recently someone that did the swap on cutters and the finish/fit is incredible

I too have seen this post and must admit it's probably the route I'd go. The finish of Karbonious' stuff looks fantastic. Once fitted you'd have to be a real keen bean and remove the roof lining to spot that's not the real deal.
It pays not to get too bent out of shape about these things. You only need to read a few issues of Octane magazine to see that in the classic car world you can practically replace an entire chassis but as long as you have the chassis plate and any stamped areas preserved it's an 'original' car.

The TR6 world is very much like this.
However the original cars that remain (unrestored) are very valuable indeed
only a few left in existence.
