Balls, went out to start the car earlier and it won't turn over, only dash lights on and a clicking noise,I can only think that the battery has given up even though my C tech charger has been plugged in for the last couple of months. Will have to get the bleddy jump leads out over the weekend and see what happens :bigcry:

you might find the levels have dropped, I keep mine on battery conditioners all the time and have now had a couple needing topping up with water, a quick top up and re-charge and they are OK (usually!)
But don't do what a friend of mine did....his battery was flat so he connected the charger up...the wrong way around but because it was flat it didn't complain and after a few days - became + and + became -
Took him a while to realise what he had done!

Been on umpteen register events and track days with the csl.

Ok,started right away when I jump started it,went and got the battery checked and they said it's fine, just needs charging. Now if someone in the know could enlighten me,I thought if a battery was down on power and not able to turn your engine over it was fucked, but he said a good run of 50-60 miles should sort it.Also these C-tech chargers are good but not man enough over a longish period, although this is the first battery issue I've had in over 6 years ;)

Mine has been on the charger all its life left for long periods and always starts, when I can remember how, just off for Airbag recall then to Adem for MOT and oil service

I cannot see the C-Tek not being man enough. If it has been fine for 6 years then it should continue to be. Personally I would look at dirty contacts on the C-Tek to battery, a failed C-Tek, something draining the battery on the CSL (tracker/poor earth connection) or the battery is on its way out.
I think they say that two complete discharges and the battery is kaput.

I think it depends on how sulphated the battery is inside. And that depends on how the battery has been used, and more importantly how it has been re-charged, in the past. I think most chargers monitor the voltage and this can give a false indication of the health of the battery.
Earlier this year my daily failed to start. Put it on the CTek that evening and within two hours it said it was okay. Put it back on the car the next morning and it started. That evening it failed to start.
Put it back on the charger and when it reported a full charge I measured the voltage at 12.60V. Disconnected the charger and the next morning I checked the voltage again - it was 11.60V. So it dropped without any load on it at all, which indicated to me that it was time to change it.
I did try the recon program on the CTek, but that didn't help.
I think for maximum battery life you need to keep it constantly above 80% (around 12.45V) to avoid the sulphation, but that is easier said than done for a various reasons.
