View Full Version : Noise levels
Looking at the noise level allowed for evenings at Donington and it is 98db.
Not over sure I'd get by on that with running a SS LWR back box and non - res SS centre pipe.
Anyone running similar and have any idea?
Secondly, could I just have a run up to Donington when there is a track day there and I'm home and blag a noise test? Or could I only get a test if I've coughed up for the day?
Not sure how it all works.

with SS LWR back box, SS Res Centre, a/m cats and oem cat i have never tripoped any noise meters in the UK inluding BEdford, Donny, Oulton, Rocky, Silverstone, Castle Combe, Snetterton.
Only place i tripped the meters was at Zolder, anbd that was after Curly in his Skoda shoppper tripped it before me so i ran aroudn at full revs in 3rd just to piss them off.
CSL at Donny is fine.

That 98db is also drive by.
I had that set up with supersprint cats and didn't trip it.

Put it this way. Bedford is very strict with a drive by of 88db ish so donny you could probably get away with a gruppe m.

i recall Woppum once got black flagged at Bedford with full SS and cats, non res. HE had done it maybe 5-10 times and one day he went above the BEdford limit

I hate worrying about track noise limits though. The exhaust mod for me was never about hp, it was about weight loss. I was perfectly happy with the stock sounding exhaust

I have the full Supersprint system from the headers back, with the light-weight race back box and it is 106dB static :bigcry::whistle:. So beware, as it would seem adding the Sports Cats gives a big jump in noise.
When I last went to Bedford, they just laughed and wouldn't even let me try a drive by :( .

Cats add 3 db, non res adds 3 db then the rest is your back box.

Your SS box is fucked, no way is it anywhere near that noise level static even with cats, as ive said before non-res can push the limits at Bedford o a full system but 9/10 times it will be ok

I have the FULL system tip to tail with LW Race/100 cell SS cats/ non-res centre and SS headers and I think its on or about 102db.

You realise all this trick exhaust kit makes you neither faster nor a better driver ?

Mine was so loud it was 113db At Bedford.
After track abuse they do get very loud.

According to Supersprint's dyno figures the full system gives 15bhp and subtracts 13kg from the weight of the OE set-up, so it should be a bit faster :blalalala:.

When mine is hot it quieten's down a little, but Snetterton is only 3 miles from my house, so I have to go for a bit of a drive to get it hot enough to dip under even their limit of 105dB. The first time I just drove straight their and was surprised that it failed :bigcry:. Never had it even come close to tripping the 92dB drive-by as far as I am aware, but I just have to make sure it is fully warm before doing a noise test :hahaha:.
