View Full Version : Inspection 1 and 2
I am looking at my service book with all the stamps in it.
It has always been serviced on time or mileage sometimes more than needed .
Last service was Inspection 1 at 33,000 miles on 02/14
Then Oil service at 37,000 miles on 03/15 .
So am I right in thinking I should have Inspection 2 this month 03/16 ?

Its every 2 years or the mileage, whichever is sooner. If you have not covered the mileage, your next service would be an Inspection 2 but at 03/17.
Much appreciated thanks the car has only done 1,000 miles since the last oil service so inspection 2 is 03/17 then

Some owners with low mileage cars dont follow the schedule exactly, with maybe 2 oil services inbetween the Inspection services. As long as you're not going over the mileage stipulations for the services it should not effect value that much.
Valve clearances are done on inspection 1 anyway, inspection 2 additional work over an inspection 1 is spark plugs, air and fuel filter (fuel filter not specified on schedule but supplied in the value line service kit from BMW), gearbox and diff oil.
Value line kits are exactly the same parts as you would udually buy, they are not inferior. Poor choice of name in my opinion:hahaha:

What's the recommendation/schedule on coolant change interval?
Cheers

On the CSL it has no recommended service schedule, although BMW only fully switched over to 'life time' coolant schedule in 2005. Prior to that it was every 4 years, with brake fluid every 2 (although new cars are now coming through with 3 year intervals). Generally speaking, if your car has coolant changes in its schedule there will be separate pages in the service book for stamps.
Nothing to stop you changing it if you want, but we see pretty much no problems with coolant age related issues (assuming the strength is ok which is checked at service).
Monkey aka James really useful comments thank you
