Can't get an M2 for ages, nor a Cayman GT4 so may go down the used route.
How financially ruining are these to run. Hear the radiators are a weak spot. Guess 20-25mpg for daily commuting (10k pa), tyres £1000 a set, and servicing every two years.
Would want OPC warranty. What happens at 10 years? Can you continue the warranty beyond this point in time?
Anything else I should watch out for.
Looking for a 2008 coupe with Chrono Pack, probably a Tiptronic. :supz:
I bought an 09 manual gen 1.5 . Great car to drive as quick as you could want .
Avg fuel 22-25 . Bought mine from RPM ask for Grieg he will let you know what's what on them. Too be honest I bought mine as an investment as the last manual Mezger engine .
Mine has a Full Porsche warranty which gives piece of mind

Thanks.
Agree manual gen 1.5 will be worth the most come resale, but happy with a tip even if it loses a bit for day to day use.
Have you had to use the warranty yet? If so is it better than the warranty I have on my CSL where BMW seem to get out of everything!?
Fair point Given the rise in 996 turbos I doubt you will lose anything in a Tip anyway . I havent done enough miles to find out yet but going for a service on 24/3 so will see then .

I purchased a 08 tip in 2014 from Porsche Bristol, managed to get 3k off the asking price and it has the 2 year Warranty. After about 3 months the rad started leaking and was sorted under warranty with no issue whatsoever. At the time there weren't any gen 1.5 about as they have the far better PCM 3.
Very hard to fault to be honest and better than money in the bank at the moment

Oh that would be perfect! Good news on the radiator repair
How bad is the tip box. Reference point is CSL, 8spd ZF in M135i and a 6spd in a XF

My brother in law has owned both 997 gen1 and gen 2 autos the later being pdk from memory the auto in the gen 1 really suits the car. Unless your going to track the car the auto in my opinion is fine.the turn of pace of these machines is impressive so having the auto means two hands on the steering wheel and hang on😀

Nice fleet. Mine is large and varied.
Went for the auto 997T. It doesn't really need gears to be honest!

Matt, I had a manual box 996 turbo that had been mildly tuned and modded to approx 520bhp .. absolute rocket ship  It did suit the manual box too , especially on the roads up where I live. Ultimately the CSL is more 'fun' , but the Turbo was in another leaque when it came to performance.
Although slower again, I prefer my 964 C2 on bilsteins PSS10's to either the turbo or the CSL

I had a manual 996 turbo, they are great so I have no doubts that the 997 is another step forward.
Post some details up of the new ride.

Another manual 996 turbo here, first drive this year yesterday. Be warned though that modifications are a slippery slope. Mine is off again later this year for further upgrades all being well.

Nice. Mine is 32k miles, Atlas Gray. Is mint. Very excited!
May part with the low mileage CSL to free up garage space.
Cult car. JZM had a nice grey one the other week - manual, SC etc. Sold quickly. A lot of car for the money.

My Dad's got a Gen 1 997 Turbo tip that he bought brand new when they were first launched. GT Silver, Sport Chrono, PCCB etc. It has just (this weekend) ticked over the 100k miles mark and is still just as fun to drive as it was when he first got it. You'll love it!
