excellent forum, very entertaining, not much about the csl you don't know.I've owned mine(a sb 04,i've lost track if this is a fast or slow one)for just over a year now and love it,the car's been garaged for the winter months but will be on the road again soon, once the salt is off the roads,i'll post some pics when this happens.

Thought I say a quick hello. I originally joined in December (I think) when I was looking at a CSL but after a little homework I walked away. HPI clear but found out it had been involved in an accident.

Anyway, I'm working at the Nurburgring at the moment so if any of you are coming over and need anything let me know. The company I'm working for has a M3 CSL you can hire if you don't want to risk yours.

Good lad jonny, hows it hanging, I hear that you tryed to take on a lorry a couple of weeks ago and lost, dont you know that us truck drivers are always right :hahaha:. Do you like your new suspension, maybe when you go to the ring you might be able to keep up with the donk, davy says hes faster than you but he said not to say :hahaha:. The e30 is going in to be fully restored soon (right this time) wont be on the road this year, if you and the donk would ever settle down (not with each other:gayfight:) and build houses, I could get a CSL with the profit i would make of you :hahaha:.

Cheers GARY,

Sure lets make it a threesome, you me & The Donk... a Ring trip of course, you can’t buy an E30 & not take it to her spiritual home!

All is well lad thank you, ya took out a few cones at road works jus south of Manchester, fast lane was to go into the slow lane & the slow lane onto the hard shoulder but a chap in a 40ft lorry jus bored on so it was either under his trailer or into the cones, talk about a close call!! So a bit of scuffing on the bumper from nudging the cones out of the way, 95% of it buffed out but the BMW garage where I bought the car sprayed part of the bumper because of one stone chip & I was never convinced it was perfect (you know me) so had planned on getting it redone at some point... just needed the excuse. Thankfully it didn’t break at the price of the feckin thing!

Suspension is mint well happy with it!! Love the stance too, only have pics on my phone so I'll take a few at the weekend if I’ve time or maybe we’ll meet up sometime soon.

The bricks in my house were layed over 200 years ago but if I do settle down & need that extra bedroom I’ll let you know.

Hi all,

I have a Carbon black M3 at the moment which I am loving and thought i'd pop over and say hello to my leaner, faster, louder brothers

I probably would, but they remain out of my price range at the moment and I don't know if i could fit in the seats :hahaha: I am 6'7 and 18 stone so I can't start thinking about weight differences in cars until I slim down myself. :hahaha:

I'm not a big fan of turning cars into what they're not, hence I don't have CSL wheels or bumper or ducktail spoiler (even though they look kick a&&!) But that diffuser - it just finishes the rear of any M3 so well

Agree with you on the modding to look like other cars. Bu the rear diffuser is needed i think to finish off the rear of an M3, the pipes just stick out a little too far imho ;)

However, now that the warranty has fully gone, i'm looking to get some upgrades... definitely brakes... and hopefully some performance mods - will definitely be bugging you soon for advice & the right peole to go to

Btw - all this nonsense about black ones being quicker... blah! we all know silver grey with some decent stone chips is the boss! ;-)

Hi everyone,

I joined CSLregister yesterday as I'll be looking at changing my car and the CSL is top of that list.
DIdn't buy earlier due to mileage constraints (upto 30k per year) and with a new job starting next year I should be back down to 12k?
Anyway, will happily spend time surfing the board looking for tips/hints/problems/etc in prep for the change.

I'm new to this forum... heard about this site from one of the members on m3forum so I thought I signed :D. I'd love to own an CSL but unfortunately I live in the states so no CSL for us :bigcry: I own a '05 AW/IR with couple OEM CSL parts (ie. bootlid and diffusor) :hahaha:.

So far I've done a few cosmetic mods such as OEM CSL bootlid, diffusor, OEM fire extinguisher, EAS titanium upper steering wheel trim, SMG dome, side seat outer trim, and angel eyes.

As for performance: Supersprint stepped headers/cats/x-pipe with OEM exhaust
Other mods in the pipe line: ground control swaybars for front and rear, KW v3 suspension, and VFE S/C stage 2 to give her more ponies under the hood :)

Hello,

I generally Lurk on the forum as I am the Second Driver in Nathan's rather awesome Britcar CSL, so have met a few people on here.

I drive a Boxster day to day :gayfight: although I came close to buying a CSL last year until Nathan decided it was a good idea that we go endurance racing, now I am skint

Hello to one and all, my name is Wayne and I live on the South Coast. Last Sunday I put a deposit down on a very well known SB CSL, CU04 NYK. It has Intrax 4 x ways, AP's all round, Wiechers bolt in cage, Recaros/Schroth harnesses and plenty of other goodies + all the standard stuff too. It will be several weeks until I collect it yet but I want to spend the winter getting it a little lighter if possible and totally track ready for the Spring.

Hi Guys, just want to say hi from a new member.

I have just recently purchased a black CSL and intend to do a few track days before the weather turns against us.

I used to have an E36, but fulfilled my desire.

I may be critised for being stupid, however the threads seem back to front to me? i.e. the thread seems to run in reverse to other forums. Is this just a setting thing or is this the forum.

Thank you, that was doing my head in!!

My nearest track is Snetterton and unfortunately, living in Norfolk, this is pretty much the only one close by.

I have been to the Ring several times with the E36 (not yet with the CSL) so don`t mind a bit of a drive.

I am keen to try Cadwell.

Hello chaps

Thought I'd just introduce myself. I'm not actually a CSL owner at the moment but I'm seriously considering it. I've owned a couple of M3's before (an E36 and an E46) and i fancy another one so thought I'd look into CSL's. And I like what I see!

I'm still a bit unsure about whether I'd like SMG, but probably the only way to find out is to get one and see how it goes.

I've had a read through some of the 'newbie with questions' threads which have answered a lot of things for me, but no doubt I'll have a couple more questions to bother you all with!

I'm at the Ring several times a year and think I probably saw some of you there this year - there was definitely one trip with loads of CSL's with CSLRegister stickers cluttering up the car park! ;):hahaha:

I have to say, the first few days of using SMG was difficult for me. Getting used to an automatic manual is a slow process (especially as I was coming from a slush-matic)

But, slowly getting there. And hopefully will prove some people right, that eventually it becomes the best of both worlds, as there is an art to driving it correctly that rewards you when you get it right. Already I've done a few very clean starts and shifts and it does give you a nice warm fuzzy feeling.

Thanks for the warm welcome

My concern about the SMG isn't so much adapting to it, that's part of the fun of getting a new car, it's more to do with not feeling as 'connected' and 'involved' as with a manual, a bit like I done when I've driven full autos. But I guess there's only one way to find out!

Got a test-drive booked for lunchtime... :tonqe:

englebert
21-10-2009, 12:59 PM
You may hate it in a test drive, because you haven't got time to get used to it. It's jerky and temperamental. For me though, it formed part of the 'character' and easily made up for the lack of involvement.

For me, paddle shift is way better. I would never have a manual out of choice any more. Down-changing a couple of gears, hearing that blip, and being in the right gear in a split gear is a very satisfying experience!

Yup, that's the problem with test-drives, isn't it. What I need is some nice chap to lend me theirs for a week or two ;)

I've had short drive in a standard SMG M3 and it was ok, but didn't make me think I had to have SMG in my life. I assume you can reset the CSL SMG like you can in the standard M3?

Hi everyone! Quick intro:

Lived in UK for a while, them moved to Switzerland. Bought E92 M3 and then realized that the excitment factor is not really there...

Went to one dealer and tried the CSL 6 month ago...the rest you can probably assume.

To wrap it up - CSL will be in my hands hopefully within a year.

I am coming with my friend Alexk to Spa day, so hope to meet you there guys and have some proper 8.400 rpm fun :-)

I am coming with my friend Alexk to Spa day, so hope to meet you there guys and have some proper 8.400 rpm fun :-)Welcome mate, and see you at Spa.

Hi first time on the boards, seriously thinking about a CSL as my next car. I'll have a look through the boards tonight and post some questions, that is unless they are all answered!

Hi everyone, Thought I better introduce myself as I've been lurking for a while now...

I'm a good friend of AlexGTT and come from a Skyline GT-R background (don't hate me!) but due to the loss of a close friend at the end of last year, I've decided I need to move on/try something new and have been really impressed with Al's CSL in the past so am now considering one.

Never owned a BMW before but my dad has had a few M5's which I've driven...along with Al's old M3 and 335i last weekend in Germany ;)

Will hopefully meet a few of you at the Ring/Spa in May.

Giles.

Thanks, cant wait to get my hands on one, proper homologation special. Hopefully will be a bit more comfy for everyday use than the vx, it got a bit chilly this winter!
only other option would be GT3, 996 RS for under 60, but don't have that to spend!

Afternoon all

Finally registered, and saying hello. Got an 04 SB CSL couple of days before xmas, then took 4 days to get it up my road due to the snow, praying it didn't get pranged around the corner. It's LB04YJV if anyone knows it, bought from Benham in Wolves, standard car, and pleased it's starting to dry out on the roads .

Stepped out of a Mini GP that I'd had for about 3 years from new, loved it, and wanted something to give me as much fun with a bit more practicality as a daily driver (lowish miles).

Kudos to all for your respective knowledge. I may not be the most profilic poster on here, as time doesn't allow like it used to, though I can already see who falls into that camp already

Planning to get to the Breakfast Club on Sunday, may bump into some folks then.
