Hi all,
Heard lots of good things about this forum!
I don't own a CSL, but a quite heavily modified E46 M3. I also race what is probably the fastest E46 M3 race car in the country, I like to think so anyway! :hahaha: Featured in this month's Performance BMW Magazine.
Anyway, cheers to you all and I look forward to contributing here.

Hi, im going to be on the hunt for a new (to me) car in a few months and a CSL seems to be at the top of the list so I have ended up here. Currently have a BM but was doing a fair bit of mileage when I bought it so ended up with a diesel but that is no longer an issue :supz:
Im just trying to work out what all the normal 'noob' questions that annoy everyone on this forum are before I ask them all myself :blalalala:

Fellow petrol heads,
Just wanted to say hi and thank you all for the great info posted on here. I've been a huge fan of BMW (amongst others) and have enjoyed owning quite a few models in the past, and a few still proudly have their place in my humble car collection.
After many fruitless efforts to find a suitable CSL in my region, I had finally given up and decided to transform my existing M3 into one...as closely as possible :banghead:
Hope you enjoy the pics, and regards to you all.

Hi all,
I've been browsing this forum for about a year or two now and finally registered. I'm from South Africa (Cape Town) and am hoping to purchase one of the (only) 65 E46 CSL's that were brought here very soon.
Just thought I'd prove I'm not a bot by posting :) Anyway, you guys are very informative and very passionate. I've learned a lot.
I've previously owned an E36 M3 which I sold recently to get a house and a wife etc :) so currently working my way back to owning/driving something fun again. Hopefully soon.
So hi everyone and I'm happy to be here.
PS: Whenever I'm logged in, posts seem to be displayed last one first. Any way to sort that out. It's quite frustrating having to go to the last page to see the first entry etc?

LOL yeah I remember that. Quite weired as SAB (South African Bruaries) is one of the largest producers of beer in the world.
To be totally honest with you, I'm not much of a sport buff. Don't really care who wins. As long as you can chill and have a good time watching the game with your mates, that's fine by me.
Surprising that an Englishman wouldd not be fanatical about footie. I've seen some grown Englishmen cry because they could not see 22 grown men chase a leather ball during one of our infamous power outages lol. I could never be that fanatical. It's ridiculous how South Africans support, and know more about English and European football than they do their own.
Speaking of hooliganism, I believe that 10 Argentinian supporters had already been deported this week as they we supposedly planning to disrupt things during the matches. So it seems all good for a good tournament. I think I'd be better off watching from home though:beer:
Traffic is going to be a bitch. But hey, it's only 30 days right and hopefully I could indirectly benefit from the "boosted" economy.

@Duncan, don't worry mate. You look almost South African. I had to laugh at your description of the "stereotypical Brit abroad". Very similar to my idea of the stereotypical Brit abroad as apposed to AlexGTT's version :hahaha:
@Mole, glad you like my city. Many people still have the opinion that we live in trees and ride elephants to school LOL.
I hope to be visiting your beautiful country in the not too distant future. I also know quite a bit of Capetonians living in the UK. They're invading your country lol. I say you should post them all back :) A friend of mine is actually a director at the Marriot hotel in London. Then I also have the usual dozen or so friends that work Visa'd their way in. I just love it when they come back with that ridiculous "GreatAfrican" accent LOL
I think I know the CSL you talk about. There's another dude from Kimberly that turned his CSL into a full on drift car, huge wing and all. He drifts pretty well and the car looks okay but I'm not so sure I'd play for that team.
@Sailorbaz thanks for the luck :)
PS to you English lot, why are so many of your nick names a Baz or Caz or Daz, etc? Always been meaning to ask and my English friends have no clue. I know like seven Baz's and three Razza's lol

I guys and girls, ok so heres a little bit about me and how i became the hopefully lucky owner of t17 csl. Ive been saving for a house for a year or so now but decided before i buy the house i would have a little bit of fun. There where a few cars i checked out before i got the csl , including the v8 rs4, m12 noble,v10 m5,tvr t350 and an exige. I want to keep this short but lets just say the csl is the best of them all. Not the fastest or most comfortable but a good compromise . Since i was a nipper i raced moto x up until i moved to devon in 1998 then got into karting and that is what i do now. Ive just had some trials for a national uk endurance team which has turned out well and been given a seat in next season!. I could go on all day but your probebly board already.:hahaha:. so im going out to wash the car.

To be fair, with moving etc i havent bothered him too much, but the latest gremlin is the cam trigger wont sync properly with the T6 under 1.5k, over thay and its fine.
A long list keeps getting longer and Im bored of ploughing money into it.
Paul thinks I should get a standard m3 and lavish it with toys, but I cant see the point in that.

Bugger! So T6 mate, I'd of stayed on the bloody Ford stuff for the expense of it, but then I was on EECIV...
To begin with I thought the same as Paul but then quickly realised that no matter what I did to it, it would never be a CSL and 'just' a modded M3 ;)

Welcome Grant,
Funny, there's a guy on here just gone the 'other' way. From a CSL to a New GTR. I'm sure he'll be along to pick some brains.
Whereabouts in Scotland are you? I used to live in Falkirk, but now in Northern Ireland. Got any photos of your car, history etc, always interesting reading/looking.
It's quiet at the moment as most are out thrashing about tracks at the weekends, and others are in the pub or whoring about! Daz, Bealo, Darren to name a few, ;-) I'm only jealous.

Thanks for the welcome,
I am not too far from Falkirk, just up the A9 in Auchterarder. Picked up the car last Tuesday down in London from Hexagon BMW. Car has had a few owners and is pretty much immaculate for a 2003 motor (25k miles). Weather has been crap this week so not had a chance to take any decent pictures but hopefully get the chance tomorrow.

So you like me had to do a bit of travelling to get a good car. I ended up in Ashford, down past London in Kent. Was a nightmare HOT journey down in an M3 Evo with AC that had packed in but WHAT an EPIC journey back up, especially through the Dartford Tunnel.
Good luck with it, look forward to the photos.

It was well worth the trip with the added bonus of plenty of sport on the way North. Heading South again tomorrow (Munich Legends) to drop off an E60 M5!

Bought the CSL from Hexagon BMW. I have been trying to sell the M5 up here for 3 months now without any success, so going to move it South (hence ML) and try my luck there!

Hi guys
I'm billy from Glasgow, love this forum more mature people here than most i've seen. The main forum i use is m3cutters hence i'm a mod there.
Would love a csl one day, but still contemplate and wonder if i have the maturity for one or not, have oodles of respect for the mighty csl arguably the best car it is to date imo ofcourse, will take alot for bmw to top this car in the future.
I drive a 2003 m3 smg coupe, poverty spec which i deliberatley have gone for. No sunroof, no hk, no nav, no heated seats just smg g/box and folding mirrors.
At the end of the day four wheels, some gasoline and off you go.
Hope to get aquainted with yous all.

Hi All from another newbie,
I am a long time CSL fan considering possible purchase.
Recent car ownership has included a E46 M3 (SMG) and a Manual of the end of line CS version. The latter had as I recall the steering rack (great), the brakes (a bit better than the standard M3), similar wheels though narrower at the front and a fuzzy steering wheel wheel with M button. So a little of the flavour of the CSL.
I very much liked both the M3s but needed a 4 door and had to move on for a while . Current vehicles are a Golf GTD and an Elise SC. The Elise is a great drive but having recently got my bus pass I am thinking about something which is fun but a bit easier to drag my aging bones in and out of.
I live in the Scottish islands which is great for light traffic and fun roads but far away for car purchasing.

Hi All,
Coming from M3 Cutters.
And I am looking to purchase a CSL, would like to know what to look for and what am I likely to get at 23/24k.
Been a fan of the M3 CSL for a long time, currently own a M3 SMG but putting up for sale very soon as I have received a sum of inheritance money.
Thankfully to Shane who took me out in his CSL, it has really put my mind into purchasing

Hoping to be on that very stretch of road on Sunday afternoon in the new motor Dunc. Strictly 100kph of course
I didn't think they bothered too much with nicking GB-reg cars as they can't do anything with the licence. I remember storming along towards Galway behind some Pug 607 a few years back in my Nottingham-reg 325ti, and didn't realise it was an unmarked cop car until he pulled someone else over for hogging the outside lane! They've started using privately operated camera vans over here now, but that's a dangerous job:

Welcome Ian
Morning Guys,
My name is Ian I wanted to introduce myself as I signed up here a while back. I have read alot of the info and have recently purchased a Silver Grey CSL. I have a few bits to do to it to get it how I want it, then big brakes and trackdays!
Loving it so far!
Ian

Welcome to the Forum Ian, where you from?
Just ask as one of the other lads off the Forum seen a SG CSL we don't know drive past him, and we're curious as to who it is.
Thanks for the welcome guys!
I live in Essex not far out of London, have not used it much at the moment due to the weather.

Ah, well it couldn't have been yourself then. This was in NI, so the confusion still lies with us.

Hello chaps! Just thought I'd say hello!
I've found loads of really helpful information on here, so I figured it would only be polite to say hello and introduce myself.
I'm in a 2002 E46 M3 with a few goodies including KW V3's, AP's, 265 Federal RS-R tyres all round, Turner / Simpson goodies and CSL bushes. I've got a few extra's to fit to the car, including some proper springs, and a couple of decent light weight parts to try and start getting the weight down.

Haha, yep - it's Daniels old car. Was so impressed - I drove a fair few, I was looking at CSL's, 996's, NSX's, Z4M's and decided that I may as well just get something that is 80% of the way there for half the money, and see how I get on with it - but yes, I probably will buckle in a couple of years and plump for the CSL. Although I plan to get every pennies worth out of this one first!
My first job when I got it home was greasing that bonnet pin. :hahaha:
Welcome Al,
You will buckle soon enough mate, I loved my M3 but the day I got it I also got a ride in a CSL and I knew I would have to go that way in the end.
Enjoy it!

Hello all,
:smt006
I'd like to introduce myself because I finally joined after lurking, picking up some valuable education on this magnificent machine from your site.
Thank you to Mark CSL for the buyers guide.
They are a pretty rare beast in Oz, only 23 imported through dealer network, and a few personal imports from UK. Not too many to choose from then. Mine has 65k km on odometer, bought from BMW Melbourne and very original spec as far as I can tell apart from non R spec tyres.
Hopefully I can contribute something too from afar, but now I'm off to the Grand Prix to hopefully see Webber triumph.
