"Likely to become unaffordable soon"

:smokin:

Has csl

I don't know whether that's good news, or very good news? I'm thinking along the lines of, if I decide to sell in a few years, they'll probably be less buyers out there due to the prices increases. But I suppose on the flip side, you'll have plenty rich investors that won't be worried about spending 80k on a CSL with 70k miles.

Interesting, but think £60/70k average is a little way off, no?

Was wondering where people see the ceiling (and I mean for a well looked after, used car not a zero miles museum piece). I don't follow classic car prices so don't know what the appreciation curve typically looks like...

... it's just a shame TG can't get their facts right as apparently the M3 CSL appeared in 2004 :smt017 making all of our UK 2003 CSLs pre production mules I suppose :hahaha:
Oh, and apparently you can tell them apart from the regular M3s by the duck tail and the different front bumper but no mention of the CSL only CF roof :banghead:
Typical journos :clown: not letting the facts getting in the way of a good story.

If you look at those on sale then that is not a bad average.;)

Hi, think they do mention the CF roof tbf. I'll let you double check cause I've had a few glasses of vino so can't be trusted/less well behaved than normal :hahaha:

Agreed

NJ has just sold (this weekend) "CSL780" for circa £56K

40,000 miles with the usual full BMWSH etc

Surely that would have been a £52-£53K private sale.

I'm not sure that NJ will be able to apply much of a price premium to the cars he sells, if any, due to his modest reputation on forums such as this. Add in the fact that sellers can very easily sell themselves, due to the high demand, or go to a prestigious garage such as Munich Legends which is more in tune with the type of seller who can afford CSL's now as opposed to 5/6 years ago.

So as for CSL780, I reckon that would sell on this forum for the same price as NJ can get for it.

TBH, I regard myself as fairly lucky that mine came up for sale at the same time Aviva laid its golden egg.

Don't keep a dead eye on prices but, from what I have seen, there hasn't been another up for sale that would've been in my price range.

Running that logic NJ would be out of business pretty quick

Any dealer will look to a 5-7% margin minimum aiming for a 10% return.

I'm not sure what you mean about NJ's rep.

I've known him for 9 years, drifts with the best of them and can drive a csl quicker than most.

I have been put off NJ by things that I have read on the internet, both on here and in other places. No idea if there is any truth in them or not, but just the fact that they are there was enough. When I was looking I dismissed one car in particular simply because it was one he was selling, opting instead for a car from Bartlett. Buy the seller and all that.

See both points of view tbh

He's a great guy to go out with, doesn't do any favours for himself sometimes but seems to do well, and he can drive

I didn't say he shouldn't make a profit, nor do I have any problem with him or anyone else making a profit from selling cars. I just said that in the current market you can probably sell for the same money yourself. Anyone that's been to Nick's place, which I have when I bought my first CSL, will know that he doesn't have a garage and is selling from a normal house on a normal road.
The reason Hexagon, Munich Legends and so on can ask a higher price is because of their impressive dealer premises, their good reputations and the reassurance you get when visiting i.e. they actually add something to the buying experience.

The driving ability of the seller doesn't really matter to me when buying a car, unless they're some moron thrashing it on a test drive.

I agree, I would rather buy off here than from NJ. I viewed a car at his, was just like dealing with a private punter, plus it was not well presented at all

I suspect he makes his money by buying cheap on some whilst getting more traffic to his ads and site that most of the Joe public would. Whether SOR or a purchase he gets his hands on plenty!

Pete

I think things have got a little off track.

My original post was in response to the suggestion that average csl prices were heading for £70K

I'd merely used NJ's recent sale of £56K and Billy's sale of circa £50K to suggest it had not yet achieved that value.

I think they were suggesting that £70k was an "AVERAGE" based on the few at over £90k and a few at £50k, meaning a mean average of £70k.....:blalalala:

Those are not exactly the attributes that make a good car reseller  and as for doing well... I'd agree with that if NJ sold his cars from an appropriate Showroom Unit instead of a domestic drive way open to the element.

Years and years ago, I had a passenger ride in a CSL round the Nurburgring with Nick Johnson.

That pretty much convinced me I needed a CSL!

I run my business from home for 10 years and didn't do me any harm including welcoming visitors.

anyway, if he spent all that money on a showroom, how would he afford all the drift tyres :)
