I'm interested in the traits and characters of cars generally - stemming from ownership of various Alfas, Subaru, V6-powered VW's and then M cars.

The CSL obviously has bags of character - and I've noticed the engine note and exhaust rumble increasing as the car has passed 40k miles.

Is this normal for the proper "running in period" ? Should the engine develop a harder and lower sound as it loosens and begins to wear? Is mine even at that stage approaching 41k miles ?

As far as I can tell, they just get better with use.
