Evening chaps
Had the CSL out today and it seems the heat shields goosed on the front drivers side. Rattling it's head off today.. I've got 6 pot ap's I'm taking it for granted that it's the standard BMW part? Any idea how much for a new one?

mine have been goosed for 4 years....keep adding new bigger wasters to trap the screw point under as its normally the rusty screw holes that cause it

The OEM shields need to be trimmed to fit the AP's so don't worry if you need to further modify. If you buy new ones you'll have to cut then to fit AP's again

just had mine done by David Raper @ cartech & care ( ex Richard westbrook carrera cup lead mechanic for redline )
Turned out to be a bit if a pig of a job as the front bearing had to be replaced at the same time when the hub was removed

That's why I keep repairing mine, have a new pair ready for when bearings need changing.

Alot of people remove them anyway, I wouldn't worry too much. I'm also in the washer crew to hold mine on but when it gets really bad, I'll just remove it.

Same - always worth doing when the bearings are due for renewal.

Well it's knackered on the bottom it seems, is it welded at the lower point or another bolt I couldn't see for the disc. How much is a replacement?
I take it the part no 34112282110 is the same for CSL as normal m3?

they are held on with 3 screws. Mine end up rustiunbg away around the screw so the screw head doesnt any longer clamp the plate to the hub behind.
if you jack up the car, take of the wheel and disc and add a thin lareg washer undernreath the faulty screw it will fix it for a year or two

Ah didn't realise there were more screws will take disc off then. Why they couldn't of designed it so the disc doesn't need to come off I will never know!

they designed it so the hub as well has to come off !

Be careful not to over-torque the screws - they're tiny.
I hope BM sacked the "Dust Shield Project Manager" for his or her idiocy.

Typical over engineering lol, will take disc off and try and repair for now. Put a bolt in the top so it's not rattling anymore.

Dealer inspired tech, £30 for the part and £250 to fit it! :banghead:
