View Full Version : Planned Server Upgrade
Again, thank you for your kind generosity sending your donations though for this site. Without your donations it would not be possible. :notworthy:
For CSL register, we have now bought the 'industry standard' forum software for car forums on the net, VBulletin. All the top car forums use this software so you will (should) be familiar with its interface. Sites that run this software include PassionFord, RS Owners Club, ScoobyNet and many others.
The server should be upgraded later this evening if all goes smoothly, if the shit hits the fan, sometime over the weekend. :clown:
Thank you to Chris, aka Admin for the RS Owners Club for helping out with the smooth migration!
Please bear with me once we have moved over, the garage & arcade will not move over, but I promise a new arcade on the new software soon!
No more garage from now on then?
for the time being :bigcry: if it can be moved over it will be

Only thing Id just suggest is a colour scheme change, I find the baby blue bland.
Oh, and when you click and thread it goes to the first unread/new post.
And the avatar part in User CP isnt working.
Other than that, good work!

Oh, and when you click and thread it goes to the first unread/new post.
There's a little arrow to the left of the thread subject (when you're looking at the forum) which takes you to the first unread post. Clicking the subject just opens the opening post.
(the unread arrow is only there when there are unread posts in the particular thread)

you will have to reupload your avatars as a public gallery of all the old ones isnt the best idea.
Remote linking of avatars is not possible, you have to upload them.

It works for a split second - I can see the cursor jump into - but then it loads the full page and quotes what the person has typed in the box I click "quick reply" (paper and pen)
works for me, click it and the cursor goes into the quick reply box, type away!

I had to go into CP >> Edit Options and then look for "Default Thread Age Cut Off" and set to show all threads

Is it possible to have "Mark Forums Read" as a default?
What do you mean by "as a default"?
You can mark each subforum 'read' from within that subforum (from the Forum Tools dropdown) and by double-clicking the orange marker when viewing the main index, or you can mark all forums 'read' from the main index page (via Mark All Forums Read clicky).

What I mean is, once I have read each thread in a subforum ie Technical area, and click to go to forum overview, its still showing that there is new posts in that subforum even though Ive read them all.
Old system used to know Id read things and turn the orange folder back to white.

That is odd. If you've read everything then you shouldn't have any 'unread' markers.
Works perfectly here ... maybe you have a cookie problem (?)
This is the same for me, but once i read all the posts in one section just double click on the orange box on the home screen and its sorted!
