Some of you might remember a few years back an American by the name of John (The JC on here) got in touch to say he was moving to Aberdeen.

John is a huge BMW fan and had various models over the years but being from the USA never a CSL.

He organised with me to come see mine and I promptly introduced him to a pal of mine who had one for sale which he duly bought.
I have kept in touch with John since and have done the usual runs out etc.

A few months ago after a couple of years of ownership he sold it and purchased a GT3.

John had a major accident at the weekend in the GT3 and is currently critical in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in a medically induced coma.

His family are over from the USA and are at his bedside.
Thoughts are with him and his family at this horrendous time.

I remember John's introduction post too and was pleased that he would get to enjoy a CSL outside of the US on some great roads near Aberdeen. Wishing him a speedy recovery and thoughts go to his family during this time.

RIP ... these kind of things make you rethink your own driving at times :(

from the photos and report in their local paper , it 'appears' a pick up truck has pulled out of a junction on a poorly sighted stretch of narrow country road and the GT3 has braked & ended up off the road into some trees .. if that is the case its one of those situations that could happen to any of us who drive quickly out in the countryside :(

You're assessment is about on the money. Only two people will really know what happened and sadly one of them is not here today. But having visited the crash site it appears that the Hilux pulled onto the road and partially strayed onto the oncoming side of the road. This limited the space for John who was approaching at speed. We know the rest.

I read the news of his passing whilst sitting in the bay window of a B&B looking out at his old CSL; now under my ownership. It all feels very strange as I know what John was doing that night, because when I get the opportunity I do exactly the same. Light Scottish nights, quiet dry roads. What petrol head wouldn't? Makes you think.

There aren't really any positives to be taken form the sorry affair but for what it's worth I know he loved driving the GT3 and he does not leave behind any dependents.

As with Gregor I use mid wales for an adrenalin fix.

I just don't feel like going anywhere in the car at present.

Very sad news of the loss of a fellow petrolhead doing what we all love to do.

Especially sad for his family in the U.S. to have to make a trip over under such circumstances.

At the risk of sounding patronising.......Lets all take it easy on the roads gents.

R.I.P John
