Hi All

what is a genuine front bumper worth that needs a repair where a towing eye from another car has gone through it?

or what would it be worth repaired? i have a very good carbon repair guy.

Just had mine replaced after being reversed into in a car park by a Nissan Primera and the towing eye punched a hole through on the LF corner. i've been given the bumper back so want to do something useful with it.

Nothing - but I'm feeling generous, so will give you £50 for it AND even come and collect it ;).

Seriously, depends on the how good the repair, but I'd say it would still be worth £12-1500.

Put it in the loft and forget about it for years - it'll be a nice little nest-egg one day!

I'd repair it, put it back on your car, and keep the new one as spare / sell it at full price.

Next carpark idiot is always just around the corner.

Its only about 20mins to swap a bumper if you have done it before. Took me an hour the first time, with the help of the guide that is somewhere here.

cheers,

i'm not worried about the next car park idiot as i think i can count on one hand the number of times i have parked in a car park since i have owned it (5 years).

Most the time now it sits in a dry workshop and gets used for the odd sunny day blast.

just looking to maximise what i can get out of it as its was on someone else's insurance.

i think a repair would be £400 so will look to sell at £1000-£1100 as is.

It's good to know you can still get new bumpers.

Peter

a quality repaired bumper is worth north of 2K bearing in mind a new oem bumper is 5K!!

I've just had a new bumper fitted and have the repaired bumper as a spare. Let me know when you are listing it. We don't want to saturate the market!!!;)

I'm going to get a quote for repair next week and then decide I think. I just want the right price, I don't plan to try and rip any one off or do myself out of any money I can get back on it.

That's nothing as a damage to be honest. You should see some of the carbon bumpers that I have seen repaired locally (I mean literally in pieces). I have one in possession at the moment that's had a 1/4 corner ripped off and that's very repairable also (I just need to find time to do it LOL).

Carbon fiber is extremely versatile and will repair to as good as new.

This is from ages ago ... I still have this bumper

Relatively speaking that's a streigh forward repair as the damage is minimal and in a plain zone of the bumper as oppose to a crease or a sway line zone.
Get it repaired, fully re-sprayed and either keep it as a very desirable spare or sell for £3K + as NEW these are £5K (if still available)
