Had mine in for MOT

Dealership discovered crack in boot floor, dealership called BMW HQ gave car details and mileage (54k) to be told abruptly its not covered and put the phone done on my advisor.:banghead:
Also have the start of clutch slur and told my warranty wouldn't cover it as it will be down to wear and tear.:banghead:
Not sure of the point of having my full BMW extended warranty now.:( apart from covering total failure of engine and gearbox, so think I will reduce down to cover that now.
Make things worse, picked car up today to consider my options and mirror has gone and spilt its guts:banghead:, luckily only hazard switch needs replacing.

Beam me up Scotty!

Think I will go for the Redish floor strengthening and a full under body refresh whilst they have it all apart.

Wow that is super bad luck, sorry to hear this.

Mirror - are there any tale-tell signs before or anyway to check if it is about to give up?

Get the innards replaced just in case as a preventative measure. Can give up unexpectedly, especially in summer

Oh yes ;) the first being the AUTO dim functions stops working. The other physical telltale sign is a kind of halo two tone appearance to the mirror glass as the dimming liquids drains away.
Did mine few years ago before it leaked out :smokin:

@ Shaun ... sorry to hear your tale but as I'm sure you know bad luck usually comes in 3s so now that's out of the way you'll have nothing but good fortune from tomorrow
Well that's the theory anyway ;)

Shawn you're not alone in your misery

Inspection 2 done in April
On drive home Diff starts to sound like Slipknot
Return journey to Bart's to replace diff...hit a hare and totalled front bumper.....missed Silverstone CSL TD....

Hope this cheers you up a bit;)

Very unlucky OP, sorry to hear that! :(

On the question of the mirror...

As previously mentioned, the tell tale sign is that the autodim function stops working and you get a discoloured oval shape in the glass. You can test the auto dim function by covering the small hole on the back of the mirror with your hand (this should cause the mirror to dim if functioning correctly).

I had this issue and found a guy on Cutters (Mirror John) who supplies replacement glass at a decent price. Well worth it and highly recommended if you are getting mirror failure.

If only the subframe issue was as simple to sort out!

I would be asking them to take the clutch out to prove it's not wear and tear, because it won't be.The clutch plate will probably be still well within their tolerance.;)

They say they come in 3's

Feel for you there too, had it myself once before on a Porsche RS trackday, went to start car up day before and it wouldn't, basically engine decided it was going to fail and shut it self down, no signs of it beforehand.
It's a real downer as you are on a high with the expected excitement of the TD.

Hope your wait for a new bumper isn't like mine for some of the parts I have ordered in the past.:banghead: Also hope the cost is covered on your insurance!

I hope you get it sorted. there a race team in Manchester that can sort the sub frame issue if you need a contact I can dig it out. I have seen their work and it is spot on.

How do you take your mirror off? Mine has this milky effect, I always leave the trim covered but I need to get it sorted.
