Just waiting for a full AP BBK to be delivered to Bartletts, possibly there within 6 - 8 weeks.

Was planning on stashing the oem kit in a dark corner of the garage but, not sure on the point of doing that. The idea was to put the oem stuff back on whenever the time comes to part with the car.

When I got the car, Vic had the oem stuff refitted and sold the BBK on. Thinking along the lines now that seeing as the AP kit is a recommended upgrade, it would likely to be worthwhile adding a bit on to the price of the car taking into account the brakes are already done.

If that was the case, I'd have a full oem kit going rusty in the corner of the garage!

So, this leads to the idea of selling the oem kit on, would there be a market for oem stuff? More importantly, what would be a selling price?

Front discs are new, rear discs have approx 0.5 mm lip, front pads are 50% worn and rears are new. Have no idea on which pads they are but were from Bartletts so they're not going to be crappy.

Any thoughts on either the sensibility of selling the stuff on or on what price to put them up for?

Cheers

Stash and Save, CSL buyers generally are looking for OEM specked cars.

Any advert for OEM brakes on the likes of ebay will only attract the boy racers and we don't want that, do we? ;)
Collection only, not the best practice! (they might be back for the rest of the car)
Postage option = £50 - too expensive. That corner of the garage is looking like the preferred option IMO.

I didn't think upgraded brakes were seen as being a 'mod' on these cars, it is just putting the brakes on that it should have had from the factory. My car came with the BBK which was a selling point to me, if I had a set of original kit I would keep it to sell it with the car, it isn't as if they are that different to standard that anybody with an M3 would want them anyway, unless they are really that tight that they don't want to put proper brakes on themselves.

Pops,

I know someone that would take all your old disc's and pads if you were looking to cover a little of your cost.

Cheers, Gav

I agree with you it's not exactly a "mod" and it's more of a case of making the car how it should've been.

Anything off standard though is a "mod" in the eyes of the purists, believe me, I've had it all before with my GP :hahaha:

To be honest, I'm not sure who I was trying to kid, either myself or others :hahaha:

Being the owner of what must be one of the most highly modified Minis ( let alone a GP ) there is, I'm well aware of what difference a few changes can make.

The good thing on a CSL is there isn't much that needs doing whereas on a Mini it's a case of "where do I start"

By the way, you do know resistance is futile?

Noooooo.

TBH I don't have the urge to get on a track, yet!!

The GP was modified to make it track ready, so to speak. I work away and have spent the last 14 yrs or so never being at home so thought to myself turn it into a car that for when I do have more time it can spend hours on a track.

Now I have the time I just don't fancy it.

One day possibly.

Once you take these cars on the track you will love it, the feedback they give you is unreal so makes driving them easier

Pops. Don't forget if you want to keep the car original when you decide to sell you will need to fit cups.

Resistance is futile. Get them fitted.

Never a truer word said. Especially on cups.

Brakes, cups & then a track day. Resistance is futile Pops. :hahaha:

It's on the raw side and great to drive.

Nowhere near the capabilities of a csl (apart from handling ) but it's entertaining

I just fitted the AP kit and said I wouldn't track it much,

After a good evening sesh at Cadwell last week where nothing even got close to the CSL, you will be totally hooked once you get this car on track get the brakes up to heat and it's night and day to driving it on the road.

Give it a 2 months and you will be a track day hero!
