Very nice!

I have driven my mates quite a bit, and they are awesome in a straight line. The power/speed is mind blowing! :119:

bigman - how does the SMG in the M5 compare to the CSL? Am I right in thinking it is version 3 and therefore is it better??

Thanks for all the comments Gents, and Glendog your correct thats the Skye Bridge :smokin:

The M5 is a seriously quick car in a straightline, and for me its quick around corners ! For you guys on tracks im not sure.

Terry, its got the 7 speed SMG 3 in it yes, it has the hill start assist and the launch control.

Its marginally better than the CSL box, very very similar though, the only thing thats better is the auto mode is crisper, and the changes themselves are more precise and in S6 M Dynamic they are absolutley stinking fast, Ive never liked paddles, but with the M5 there is no manual option so I had to have them, and I am happy enough with it now, I cant recall if the CSL did this or not but in manual mode the M5 will drop gears for you should you pull up at traffic lights or junctions etc ? So all I ever really do with the smg is use it for upchanges.

Oh and somone mentioned fuel, its not bad lads, its 19mpg ish, but obviously if you open up the V10 it will see off a tenners fuel in minutes :bigcry:
:-D

You can get a 6spd manual in the E60M's now Glen, think they came out mid 07.

Personally I dont think the car would suit it at all though, and I find the SMG in the M5 to be far more refined vs my CSL.

Yeh mate, its the same box as the E39 M5 but you can only get it in the states, and I honestly wouldnt want it now, im happy with the SMG.

As you say it is much more refined than the CSL but not that disimilar.

Was seriously tempted by an M5 as it fitted more criteria than the CSL for me as a family car :smokin:

The main thing that affected the purchase was the sheer size of a 5series and my relatively small garage :bigcry: It would go in but I wouldn't get out :hahaha:

More than happy with the CSL though but still have to show love for the mighty M5

How are you finding the variable servicing? It was a bit of a concearn for me at least with the inspI & II etc you can budget for throughout the year..

Thankfully Ive got a fairly spacious garage mate, but your right it is a massive car, but would you believe it is actually shorter than an M6 !!

Servicing in cheap, I kid you not, the CBS servicing is great, you just change the oil every 15k miles and then the computer tells you when anything else is coming up, I currently have 37000 miles to go before I need discs or pads, because I drive like a pussy

The V10 actually uses about a pint of oil for every 3000 miles, but its all automated on the dash and you just follow instructions on there or in the manual.

The CSL and M5 are very very similar in terms of performance although the V10 is substantially faster on a straight, the engine note, the similarity stops when you come to interior comfort and equipment levels.

Obviously though the CSL was never designed for comfort.

And the M5 definitley does not corner aswell as the CSL :-D

Nothing corners like a CSL!

My dad is thinking about a change from his Range Rover to a M5!
But he might keep aswell as the M5! Off for a test drive tomorrow!

CSL is better in the corners that it has the right to be for its size...stunning...but there are a few out there that can do it better.
