Owned by Dino on M3Cutters. One is a brand new tub and the other is a damaged repaired one. Look really good but I prefer OEM.

is there a chance they'll remove some of the appeal of the originals which is just how damn well the Alcantara grips your shoulders?

Has anyone pulled the original CSL seats apart to see if the tilting mechanism could be bolted to a normal Pole Position (thus having the seat belt eyes that the OE seats lack)?
Also, is there anyone that could then retrim the Pole positions in factory material?

While the Leather with Alcantara centres is a very appealing mix I find the "M" tricolour stripes completely out of place on an otherwise beautifully crafted seat.
Great upgrade for a regular E46 M3

Beautifully done. I would love an IR or Cin Interior trim for my CSL seats.

I wasn't sure about the M tri-colours either but once the seats were in the car I think it's paid off :smt055
I've not fitted the tilting mech or base frame yet as one of mine needs a repair, I'm currently running on fixed mounts.
I didn't trim these seats for the purists but for me :) I'm sure if I ever decide to sell there will be plenty of (non CSL) M3 owners who will want them.
In the meantime my bum and back agree they are a nice place to be ;)

The way i'll do it, I'll preserve the OEM covers, then start from the beginning with cinnamon leather......Just need to find someone to get me a similar color. or maybe even imola red.

My original covers were ruined so were only used as a template/guide for the new leather/alcantara then they were binned as they were filthy and ripped.

Well mine are near mint so I would like to wash them and then pack and wrap them and store them. You never know when they might be needed. So the shop that did your retrim should have a template for the seat now. right? This might make it easier just to call them and tell them to make the covers and send them to me and i'll fit them myself.
Family business is interior decor so it shouldn't be difficult lol.

That's a good idea, keep the originals you have mint. When selling you can give the buyer the option of OEM or re-trimmed.
Not sure if Laurence would have a template as such. Might be an idea to contact him.

Will do. Thanks Mate.

Mike, I looked into this sometime ago and it CAN be done however the plastic trim that fits to the side of the CSL seat doesn't line up with the higher Pole Position bolsters. Also the PP are a different design to the CSL seat which as you probably know is based on the Recaro SPG. Mounting any bucket seat to the CSL base frames is possible though. It just won't look as tidy is all.

Looks a quality job in a non-CSL way. Seat backs; carbon fibre or re-trimed to match.

Seat backs I left well alone. The repaired seat has been repainted in satin black and the new seat tub was left alone (although it came with free scratches and marks from BMW!)
