Whats your tire pressure?

31 psi i think that maybe there the tits on track but not worth the extra cost/wear/cold/wet performance cost over ps2,s
Not used cups on the road but i have driven a CSL with KW's and they are great. I think the cups will be fine for me as only use the car now and again. But i think i might buy another set of wheels sometime!

The comment about KW is interesting, because just the fact that KW are fitted doesn't mean the car should be instantly amazing. They are adjustable so have to be setup properly, and it takes quite a bit on know how rather than just sticking them on and using them.
A poorly setup KW configuration could feel rubbish.
And the Cups - I think they're the best feeling tyres on the CSL on the road. Yes they're firm and noisey but the whole car is hardcore and noisey - that's why we bought it

Kw dont have the full range of adjustment to suit road that is why they are not as good as Intrax 2. Drove my CSL with Intrax forst ime lasty week and the road setting by Simpsons was not as hard as OEM but as good on road. Got to try a bit of adjustment now for road to see what happens and the off to Silverstone in March to chase Nathan!
But cups are great on road and track. Live with them Dave until they have had the edges taken off and you WILL love them. They are a great tyre.

Well Ive KWs on mine with PS2s and Im finding Ive got it set a little hard for B road use. Trunk and Track it feels fine, but as soon as I get onto a bumpy B road the car feels a wee bit skittish when the surface is uneven, and there's not much give if I hit something.
Now the better weather is here I'll spend a bit of time getting the bump / rebound set right - I set it up to a tuners reccomendation. Ive the Fast Road Geo settings on too. The tuner told me they'd go softer than standard susp. Id have liked Intrax, but theyre twice the price and Im rookie driver.
Mark took me for my first spin with Cups on sat, they were very sticking round the track. I was running PS2s and honestly couldnt fault them.
My car is just for fun (mostly summer, but still all year round) and Im now wondering if Cups are necessary for a driver of my skill.

Spot on , really could not of put that better myself
Hated the KW's at first , but once they had settled and I had tweaked them to my preference and driving style/ needs they were perfect.
Cups came with the CSL and were developed with it , they are awesome road tyres WHEN they have warmed up properly , tons more grip and give more road feel , and better driving experience.
Would not right them off on one outing

my car came with kw's and it was really hard and really low backed off all the damping still to hard admitedly did't touch the spring adjustment but im sure that is just height anyway, could'nt get on with it changed back to standard instantly transformed it into a nicer car more planted and safer feeling car would go intrax as it is suppose to be softer than oe but cant justify the price

Have you been on track with them yet Daz?
You'll have the same FR Geo as me I'd think, but can you remember what Bump & Rebound settings you've got yours on?

No not yet , but I was working on the idea that std I was happy on road and track , but could drive faster as I got more confident ... so getting them set right for the road ( fast road )...and then trying them on track , although when I first did all this , I was not planning to be racing in the CSL cup  , so will be on track on full race set up in my track car most of time , for testing , qualy and race .. so my road car will prob do less track days as a result , and poss only the odd one , and nurburgring etc , so makes sense for me to have the perfect set up for road really ... for what I need day to day :-D
Which is how it is now with Cups  , will check what settings the guys have done , I know lazy , but im up there so much thats its just easier for thorneys guys to tweak and adjust as I need

They'll see ££signs every time you come in Daz - must be one of their best customers!
If you dont mind, keep a note of the settings and PM them my way when you get the chance.

not writing them off but i think there better suited to trackday's and the ring a bit of compliance from the tyres on the road let's it dig in better and it certainly is easier to live with

they are certainly a bit more directional and tramline slightly but they do suit the car on road when you get used to them
dave1

deffo tramline more than road tyres

They are definitely the best tyres for the CSL, road-wise. PS2 and Contis (the only alternatives I've tried) don't work as well. The PS2 are close but not quite there, and the Contis are rubbish (Conti 2 that is).

Dave, once you understand how the Cups work you won't look back. There's absolutely no way I'd run any other tyre on mine. I have standard suspension but maybe your KW's aren't ideally set up for you.
As my car is just for fun and only comes out for more serious driving  , I set my pressures 26psi cold. Once the temps are in them they are awesome on road. But as a daily driver, if your doing quite a few miles, it's a waste to run Cups. Unless your commute takes in the Evo triangle or similar. :smokin:

my car is for fun too and im on standard suspension i,ll try em again on a warmer day with less pressure
Try 28psi cold Dave!

the other thing i dont like is im aware of the cost and wear rate so it is stoping me driving sideways and that is half the point having this thing :wanker:
ive had mine on for a couple of weeks now with stock suspension - and IMO they transform the car! although my car had conti's on which i hate anyway. i'm running 29psi from cold and it took about 80 miles for them to behave nicley when first fitted. Like you said try a few more miles before you write them off.

Good point jibm, Cups are very slippy slidey when new. Go real careful for the first few miles. Warm them up and there's no better road tyre. They take some time in colder conditions but I had a great drive last Sunday, the first time ambient temps rose above 10 degrees round here. I forgot how good they were. :-D
