£499 for a set of 4 is just plain mental now & suspiciously cheap! You lot sure they're not coming out of a Chinese knicker factory?

I did, and used them last Sat. They were fine.

Not sure they'd last 5 track days though....

Actually to add something useful to the thread; we don't test on tyres older than 2 years on the sports cars at work. However that being said the 11 year old set of cups my CSL came on, despite being perished, still had plenty of bite for the couple of drives I did on them particularly when they'd warmed up a bit.

So I'd say if they've been stored properly, which they probably will have if the labels aren't faded then I see no issue.

I've just took delivery of 8 of these dot12 cups.

A yr old tyre stored incorrectly, can be worse than a 10 yr old tyre.

I'll let you know how they are, but they certainly look fine, and mounted to the rim fine.

the same for cup+ on my Gt3 RS. used to be 1200 set before cup 2 N-rated stuff appear now 700 a set and going lower...........

I think there'll be loads more to clear if they are only at 2012 DOT..

I should go through 3 sets a year i think.

Think you are right.

In the latest EVO, Andreas Preuninger (GT cars boss at Porsche) reckons the new Pilot Sport Cup 2 on the 911 GT3 RS is 20% stickier than the tyres on the GT3.

That's pretty damn sticky and might mean that all the original Cup tyres need to be shifted fast.

I think you need to ask yourself what's on the GT3 and who pays the bills :whistle:
