Must admit I would be worried about the condition of the engine.

Did you actually see the car Matt?
Well here it is. Yes it needed some extreme detailing, due to the quality of its storage, to get it looking commensurate with its mileage, but it is now one of the best CSL's on the planet I think you will agree.....:smokin:

And some more....
I can also assure you the underside is exactly the same as everywhere else....
Does the car get driven what's the mileage now ?

As you can see it exceptionally low mileage. It's part of my collection and although I will use it somewhat I don't expect I will rack up the miles on it.....

More to the point would be have you or the previous owner serviced the car in accordance with BMW's servicing requirements irrespective of the mileage?
I would suspect not, Bi-annual servicing is a minimum requirement and that follows the service schedule.

That's a bit harsh? A low mileage csl..... You can't just go find another with that mileage... why always the negative comments?
Sometimes this forum seems to be very against low mileage csl's. It is now in his collection - if it needs work, so be it and seems Stradman could afford it. If not... well, enjoy it!!! It isn't going to be used "hard" so where is the problem?
It looks fantastic Stradman! Enjoy the mileage you do and also enjoy the fact you have such a fantastic example in your collection
Sometimes it feels people seem to forget that these cars are getting rarer and rarer.
Mine has 36000 - doesn't mean I haven't looked after it!
I am not usually so vocal (and have had a beer ;) ) but come on..... give the guy a break and let him enjoy his awesome car.

Cars are built to be driven that's why they got 4 wheels:gayfight:

I agree - all that servicing stuff is based on the assumption the car is being used. Of course it makes sense then.
If it's not, then a whole set of different factors come into play.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the all the nice and....not so nice comments:whistle:
No but seriously, I have a number of cars in my collection, some I drive more than others. I used to have a CSL in period for about a year, which I used a lot and loved it, but moved on at the time. Just saw this car a few months back and felt I wanted one again! That's all!!
I am a car guy through and through and understand all the arguments regarding use and maintenance and everything around that, believe me. My cars get turned regularly and maintained regardless of mileage. Of course the CSL will not be used much, mainly because I have limited time and so many other cars(some may say that's not a bad problem but hey ho...).
This car is very pristine now and its a shame to trash it but it will get the odd spirited run...just to hear the induction noise! I think it is also good for posterity that a few such low mileage cars are around for future generations to admire.......:supz:

Love how clean the underside of your car is, stradman. :smokin:
Agree 20,000 mile cars and above will have a FSH . But otherwise why service it when it's sorn in a collection with ultra low miles .

Agree, but if you try to sell the car the buyer will try to beat you down on price.

But this car traded at a very high price there was no reduction !

Cars like this are freaks, one offs. The normal rules of pricing and service history do not apply, as they will barely be driven anyway. It has crossed over from being a car to being an ornament. Nothing wrong with that, just different. No doubt anybody who spends this much on an ornament could buy a £35k runner if they really wanted to drive one. If I had the money and space to do that I would have two.

Welcome Stradman
No harm meant regarding your precious ;) however at the time of sale one of the member on here mentioned they use to see that CSL sit idle outside on a driveway for long periods of time and the seller described it as and I quote " Vehicle kept in storage for the last 10 years"
Anyhow... good to hear you're pleased with your Cecil :smokin: Very shrewd investment and better (more fun) than money in the bank :supz:

Funny you should ask as I just bought one last week! Will be a couple of weeks before it arrives... I had bought one new one of the last ones towards end of 2004 which I had. For 3 years. Absolutely cracker so really wanted to get back into one and found a lovely black one so looking forward to that again....

Non taken Matt:beer:
Yes you're right there was some question about the storage, hence why it required a heck of a lot detailing and sorting to get it to where it is, however the fundamentals of the car were sound I'm pleased to say and so it now represents what it should have represented all along. An excellent clean extremely low mileage car. Ok so it's not a car to throw and trash around the track- I'd be more likely to do that with my 997 GT3- but its a nice car to bring out every now and again to enjoy....lightly :smokin:
And yes it is more fun than money in the bank....

Yes I guess so by the looks of it. Useless bloody Authorised BMW dealer in the Midlands, as they put these new ones on in September.....!
Oh well I'm sure it won't matter so much on this car anyway, as the brakes will never get up to any significant temperature to see a difference, and anyway from what I gather, although I am not an expert, there is some controversy apparently as to how much of a difference this actually makes..
