Have already started a thread in the main forum but wanted to reiterate here too in the proper Wanted section.
For anyone looking to sell, I'd be interested to hear from you through this thread or via PM. Happy with either SG/SB, needs to have climate/air con and Xenons. Pretty flexible on mileage. SS exhaust system and AP brakes a bonus!
Ex-CSL owner looking to buy another CSL, miss the noise :(

£41995 was the asking price, and given the good price and speed it sold suspect that is what it went for
Was a lovely car no surprise

Yeah Munich legends can command that money as they offer a warranty, good will if it goes wrong, you know they've checked it over, hpid it, looked at all diagnostics, sorted niggles and so on.
For this kind of money people like using a dealer, especially one that has a top notch reputation.
Munich legends probably had £5k in it but they deserve their praise.

Very competitively priced considering mileage was south of 55K.
ML do have a reputation to protect and no doubt vet the sale or return csl's on the individual car's merits.
Very reasonable fees charged considering their selling power.

I spoke with them. They charge £2000 + VAT for a sale, which as Cslsuperfan says is fair given their selling power. I would likely use them

As much as like to see these cars desired and acquired by many, I must say I feel a little sad when enthusiasts' cars on this wonderful site starts changing hands to investors.
Long time owners here, used them as BMW intended both on track and on the road as the prices weren't crazy but I feel like the new owners are seeing them as investments or collection pieces which may mean turning them into garage queens.
I hope as years go by we don't see here more "what is the best trickle charger ?" threads then " what is the best track setup ? " ones here. Which is what happened in the E30 M3 community in the last few years.

CSL is heading down the same route as the E30.
It maybe a few years off but the writing's on the wall.
Don't worry though, there's still a good contingent on here who are Track Day fans.

Hi all,
Was directed to this forum from a member on cutters. I'm looking to purchase a CSL in the new year. I know its a while away yet, but it took me four months to find my E46 M3, so thought I'd start early!
If anyone is thinking of selling around then, please do let me know, or keep me in mind in thenew year!
One quick question, I looked at the car at Barteltt's when I took the E46 for a service back in March/April time and thought it was a good price at £31k, however, they now appear to all be priced aroudn £40k+. Am I likely to be able to find a car around £35k, or have I missed the boat on that one?

If it was more like February then that is the car I bought (70k miles, AP brakes front and rear). Rubbish advert, great car. I haven't seen one for a similar price since. It would take at least £40k to prise it from my hands, there are no alternatives at this price point.

That is only my price, but I am not selling. If you can find somebody who wants to sell I bet you will find one for low £30k's. Keep your ear to the ground and be quick. I had an E46 M3 cabriolet before this. The difference is astounding. Even compared to my friends M3 coupe it is night and day. Get the first good one you find.

One general observation of pricing for cars, which I think probably applies as much to the CSL as it does to other cars. Prices are generally set based on mileage but you should buy on condition, so my advise would be to set your budget which will decide the mileage of the car, then buy the best condition one you can find at that mileage, because a well looked after car with a lot of preventative work done will be up for the same price as a dog.

I have to eat my words a bit I think.
After keeping an eye on auctions, dealer cars and private ads - I wouldn't be surprised to see £50k being the new £40k in 2016/17 as the pool of cars shrinks every tighter.
Result for sellers and investors, bad news for users.

Mine will be available from October.
Front bumper just painted. Approx £25k just spent on it at BMW Elms. Still under Full BMW warranty.
45k miles and just had brand new engine (caused by headgasket failure), alternator, power steering pump, floor repaired, bushes, suspension and springs all round, brake pads and front discs, plus brand new CSL rims as I specifically wanted OEM finish, new Goodyear Eagle F1's all round, car is original OEM, I am the 4th owner and owned the car for 4 years +.
Needs nothing, all BMW receipts to back up work, FSH and MOT'd at Bartletts and checked over by Gareth & Damian. New engine has 400miles left and will be run in and serviced by BMW Elms.
Offers invited and viewing welcome in October, first come first serve basis.

2 years ago you could buy a 100K miles plus csl for £20-£22K.
This is no longer the case with 90K miles cars of the right pedigree commanding twice the 2013 price of similar mileage cars.
Thankfully the mileage vs. price ratio that once benchmarked prices is long gone.
Of course you will occasionally see the uber low mileage cars come up for sale and fetch lottery money figures, but these are becoming even rarer now the csl approaches it's 13th anniversary.
I think prices now are headed by condition first and foremost with the mileage being more of a foot note.
IMHO this is a far better situation for current csl owners.
Not too good for the buyers :smokin:

no point buying a low miler if you're going to be putting miles on it .. running costs for both an average mileage car & a low mileage car will probo be similar , ( low mileage could potentially be more due to lack of use ) , but any premium you pay will be wiped out as soon as you start adding the miles.
Buy on condition and then enjoy

Hi chaps,
Also looking for a CSL here, but more towards the bottom end of the market.
Not fussy, anything considered really:- any colour; any spec; and the same goes for condition/provenance (including cat C/D; patchy history; leggy examples etc.)

Anyone know why the low mileage cars at Nick Johnson are not selling at all ?
Seem reasonable prices ..
An ever-determined Max Girardo commanded the Place Vauban for almost three hours, but despite his valiant multilingual efforts (and the usual first-rate presentation from RM Sotheby’s), the market made its voice clearly heard, with three-quarters of the 61 lots selling below estimate, and 17 cars failing to sell altogether. Just as with the preceding Arizona sales, genuine ‘star cars’ were few and far between, with the rest of the catalogue populated by nice, albeit not perfect cars.

Maybe you could tell us ;) since you're currently on a hunt for a low mileage CSL http://www.cslregister.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13897
Probably time of year and the RM Sotheby’s), the market made its voice clearly heard, with three-quarters of the 61 lots selling below estimate, and 17 cars failing to sell altogether.

The problem is, historically a lot of Auction cars have an OTT estimates so it's no surprise 3/4 of the 61 lots sold below.
At least they have SOLD  which is encouraging.

I gather some of the porsche cars in recent big auctions were not of that high quality. High prices have brought out the dross and the chancers

I'm personally not sure it will John ;) Auctions can be very strange places, depending on financial climate, the time of the year and the bidding crowd on the day but it will certainly be interesting to see where the hammer falls on this one :smokin:

Too lazy to look the car up.
Can anyone give a summary of the condition of the car, service history, rear subframe repair, etc or simply, dog, garage queen.
As its the faster colour it will fetch a premium. :hahaha:

The rate of increase dP/dt may be affected by the global uncertainty we are currently facing. Although that will just be temporary
