Evening everyone
I've been lurking on here for years and finally last week took ownership of a CSL. The car in question is EVLXGE on heres old motor, Ian is one of my best mates so I've known the car for a number of years. I've met a couple of you in the past either at Croft or Nurburgring.
Anyway pic of barry the beemer below and some of my old motors. Took the CSL out properly on friday night gone and blown away by it. Such an occasion and the noise is to die for! Roll on the summer

Hi
How does the CSL compare to your RS?
Completely different car tbh. My RS was stage 1 mapped and exhaust so around 340bhp. Power delivery in the RS was brutal as you went from zero torque to the full wallop in as much time as the turbo needed to spool up so dry roads were crucial which is much the same as csl to get the best out of it. The RS also had a relatively narrow powerband so you rode a wave of torque rather than wringing out every last rev like in the CSL. On the road in the real world I don't ultimately think there is a great deal in it straight line wise although the CSL is quicker you would need to redline a number of gears to pull a gap at silly speeds.
My first issue with the Ford after numerous german cars is the build quality.. rear wheel arches rust no matter how pedantic you are with cleaning and underneath the car just isn't engineered like a german built motor, the smallest amount of salt and the underneath rusts. My second issue and biggest problem is the fwd..revo knuckle and a limited slip diff still dont stop the RS from feeling rather clumsy under power and cornering even with the standard power and the handling although fantastic for a hot hatch really isn't in the same league as the CSL due to the weight your throwing around, it also felt very light on the rear end under hard cornering and numerous versions I looked at before mine had quarter panel repair or replacement probably due to lift off oversteer when someone felt the back end get light and panicked. I loved the 5 cyl noise in the ford but lets be honest the CSL is one of the best sounding cars money can buy. In summary its unfair to compare a focus rs with the CSL for a number of reasons really but I will only say that the Ford was on the wishlist even after my previous cars and its been ticked and enjoyed but the CSL could well be a keeper.

Interested to see that you've had Lotuses as well
I've got a 340R which is a unique drive but somewhat compromised!
Hopefully I can get a CSL soon

I've always been intrigued by the 340R mad little cars! Practically free motoring also it seems prices on them have always remained strong.
