Had 888 on 'other' cars I've owned but not on the CSL and found them OK. Think Yoko A048's are better but both very good with fantastic grip.

Don't think you will find many on 888 as I lead to believe they don't make any in size to fit the front wheels. Thats what CSL specialist Simpsons told me last week. Thet also said customers, who had them on different wheels for their CSL, said they didn't last. but Daz will be along to confirm as he has them and is very pleased with them. I would have a set if they did sizes to fit.

Are they better than cups...def cheaper....but the thing with the Cup tyres is that they were designed for the CSL so are probably the better choice.

Best place to get Cups...group buy on here eventualy...get your name down..

I think one of Marks friends is having a set, think its Gaz above but as he says good if you use the car in wet/dry days but cups for tracks and dry days no question!

Had them on my evo tho and crap in any standing water but the cups would be also! :-D

i found the 17" 888 on my evo to go off quickly, but the 18" 888 seemed not to and i was running sub 2 min laps at oulton on them.

think ill run on the cups when i get mine all year round, dont do enough mileage over winter etc to warrant change,

Sorry for the thread crash.

What size tyres are needed for both front and back? For standard CSL wheels

And where is the cheapest place to get Cups?

SMD

235/35/19 front
265/30/19 rear

we are trying to sort cheap cups at the min in the group buy! Get your name down if you want a set!

888 are very good but were designed for light weight track cars...Caterham/Lotus etc so the CSL will probably eat them as you say.

Didn't realise Daz you had TR1R...they are a fine looking tyre.

I run the Falken 452's now and i can't speak high of them, they cost me £550 a set fitted and i they take some beatings on track.

I keep up with the guys running Cups in the dry and i'm nothing special on track.

I want to try some track day tyres, Cups, 888 or the new Dunlop Direzza 03G to see what i'm missing out on.

Like i said Andy, i rate them, not just on track but in the wet and dry.

Bargin price and last.

To be fair i only have got the old Continentals that were on the car to go by against them and they were shocking.

I'm with Mark, i will run these most of the time but run cups or similar during the summer and trackdays.

Well if you run Falkens and not PS2s you save £500 that makes the cups £500 cheaper

Sounds good to me and the falkens on my old E36 M3 EVO were the nuts

I shall keep you posted :notworthy:

I've not ran the Falken 452's on the CSL yet but i had them on my Evo 9 and they were great, even with over 600bhp on tap.

Originally i never would have bought Falken tires, but i got a set of cheap wheels with the 451's fitted (the predecessor to the 452) - and was that impressed by them that i bought the newer 452's on my next set of wheels.

For the money you cannot go wrong, they're fine on the road, cope well enough on a dry track for a road tire (though over heat after half a dozen or so fast laps of Spa), and work great as a track 'wet' tire.

I'm due a pair of rears soon and will be fitting Falkens for sure, will update then :)

Yes, believe it or not I didn't like the PS2's in the damp / wet so I took them off. Finding the asymmetrics very good, not that cheap at £170 + vat each for the rears.
I have always liked the F1's , can't really say they are better than the GS3Ds

So in your opinion the F1 assys in the wet are better than PS2s?

How do they compare in the dry?

I will be trying Goodyear F1s for my next road set.

I've heard they are near on a par with PS2s dry but a tad better in the wet.
