So Back in the middle of last rear I bought this car from lawsy to compete in a sprint series I do at Knockhill.

The car was very well sorted with some really nice bits so it was just a case of putting my own mark on it.

I thought it was about time I stuck some pictures up of the last 8 or so months so here's what I have been up to.

June on the way back from Shanes with the new purchase.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v447/rstoughy/M3/IMG-20140607-00758.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/rstoughy/media/M3/IMG-20140607-00758.jpg.html)

So rear spoiler off which left this on the bootlid

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v447/rstoughy/M3/IMG-20140608-00764.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/rstoughy/media/M3/IMG-20140608-00764.jpg.html)

As this was going to be my race car a CSL rep lid was ordered up from Poland. 3 days later this arrived and was quickly painted and fitted.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v447/rstoughy/M3/IMG-20140619-00801_zps60381f1d.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/rstoughy/media/M3/IMG-20140619-00801_zps60381f1d.jpg.html)

So then it was time to try it out so a quick trip over to Germany for my yearly DN days

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v447/rstoughy/M3/DN10C_1840HR_zps2dcc4c64.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/rstoughy/media/M3/DN10C_1840HR_zps2dcc4c64.jpg.html)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v447/rstoughy/M3/10526138_879206418762303_2807367085747565654_n.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/rstoughy/media/M3/10526138_879206418762303_2807367085747565654_n.jpg .html)

The car has a custom exhaust but as I run in modified road class I need cats so Shane had a new centre section made for me with 2 race cats

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v447/rstoughy/M3/IMG-20140901-00890.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/rstoughy/media/M3/IMG-20140901-00890.jpg.html)

So that was it ready for its 1st event, loaded up and off for a weekends racing

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v447/rstoughy/M3/IMG-20140718-00858.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/rstoughy/media/M3/IMG-20140718-00858.jpg.html)

Car suffered some heat issues in Germany and also during my weekend at Knockhill so proceeded to do the fan modification

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v447/rstoughy/M3/IMG-20140903-00894.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/rstoughy/media/M3/IMG-20140903-00894.jpg.html)

And everything that was removed

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v447/rstoughy/M3/IMG-20140904-00906.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/rstoughy/media/M3/IMG-20140904-00906.jpg.html)

I ran the car like this for the remainder of the season and had a ball.
So over the winter I removed the 4.10 diff for a refresh, rebuilt both the rear shafts, done a little more weight reduction with removal of carpets, sound deadening and air bags.
Obviously removing the drivers one left me with the need to fit an aftermarket wheel so until I need the Geartronics kit from Nathan I made something up to tide me over.

So that's it, oil and filter change over the next week or so then back to it with the 1st outing on the 28th.

Its a work in progress so will tinker away throughout the year again.

Cheers for looking

That's EPIC Paul, loving your work and determination. I'm sure the CSL doesn't have a look in when it comes to thrills and on track entertainment.

Thanks Derek,
There is a very fine line between keeping the car useable for the road and unfortunately this one has crossed it.

You can have a shot on the 28th and see for yourself.

Recaro Spa's.....nice touch.

It had 996 GT3 style seats fitted but I had the SPA out my CSL and ordered up a SPG for the passenger side. Will fit another SPA if I can find a cheap enough one but not paying 2.5k for something that's used twice a year.

The GT3 style seats (really comfy)

The car had new Alcons on the front when I got it

However I just couldn't get to grips with them and was either braking too early or out braking myself and running in too deep.

Sold those on and bought a full set of AP's as that's what the CSL is running so had the confidence with them from the off.

Cheers mate. I'm loving it, just getting quicker and quicker as the arse in seat time increases.
Car 99% ready for this season and cant wait. Have a problem with the up shift paddle which is intermittent so need to change that out but that's it.

Taxed it today so had it out and about for a little run. Don't half get the attention.....lol

Full T45 cage, CF roof and a mountain of weight loss.
Car now weighing in at 1260kgs wet.

So race 1 for 2016 went well.
No issues with the car apart from me having to learn to drive it again.
Its a totally different car with all the changes over the winter.

Managed a 1st which then changed to a 2nd after the event due to a timing issue with a competitors car. Only 2/10's sec in it so was gutted.

Next time.....lol

We're you faster? Or have you got a bit of learning to do first?

Was faster by roughly 1.5sec a lap which at Knockhill is a huge amount giving that the circuit is only 1.3miles long.

However I am a firm believer that there is always learning to be done. I'll book the track for another afternoon shortly and work on the car set up as it has not been touched for over a year. Would be good to get some "know how" on that.

Interested to know what you've done to get down to that weight. Still running heater matrix?
