So I'm looking to fully cage the red car.
Due to the uncertainty of the current rear cage mounting points this will more than likely come out.
So options please?
I'm thinking bolt in as I just don't have the time available to strip the car, send it away for the work and rebuild it.
At least with the bolt in option I can do that myself Inc the welding in of the mounting boxes.
So options please.
Oh and does anyone have a multi point cage for sale?????

I put in a half cage can now only get three wheels in rear. A full cage mayor event wheels going in rear if side impact bars are welded in. Guy in Perth done mine made really good job

I trailer the car 99.9% of the time Derek and have a wheel rack on that so getting wheels in is not a problem.
Was that Dave Heard that fitted your cage? I'll have a look on the 28th ;)

Having read the blue book it looks as though the rear cage will be fine, it has all the required reinforcing plates to spread the load etc. Its just that its fixed in a different place to the rest I have seen with the exception of Tankslapper's one.
I will give Matt a call and see what can be done :smokin:

We made it so I can come out the door in one piece :-) Matt is superb at fabrication, cages, race car builds etc

Rear Cage will be fine. Simpson MS fitted mine and many like it. Fully certified for racing.....if that's your thing.

Cheers,
Yeah I done a good bit of searching around so it looks to be fine. Waiting for Custom Cages getting back to me regarding the front section and door bars.

The custom cages multipoint looks wicked…if I could warrant the cost of installation on the multipoint I'd swap them over. I had mine made by Nickson Motorsport in Surrey. They made the rear then they added the front a year later. Only pain is can't access rear seats from the boot so wheel transportation is difficult at times.

Graham, thanks for the pics.
That looks really good.
Agreed the custom cages multipoint looks awesome but like yourself i couldnt justify it. Especially for sprinting in a road car class.

Why have a cage for sprints?

Why have a cage for sprints?
Shimmy,
Its required for cars over 2.0l running in modified road class.
As soon as the scrutineers spotted the Intrax and adjustable top mounts they were all over the fact it only had a 1/2 cage.

Why not go for the custom cages 6 point? Only about £500, think it says about £1000 installed on their site?

If the buggers would get back to me Graham that's likely what id go for and just use the front section tied into what's there already seeing as its Custom cages as well.
Pretty sure the rear would sell on pretty easy on its own.

Oh ok missed the bits about you already having a rear :)
Yeah rear would sell very easily on Cutters I'd imagine.

Ah...Yes it has a welded in rear Customs Cage that Martin had fitted during his ownership.
Be a shame to remove it.

Oh you have Martins old car, saw it at DN10 last summer looked as good as when Martin had it. Pointless removing a welded cage I guess. Can you not get a custom cage maker to quote you?

Custom Cages were supposed to get back to me regarding a front section but have failed to do so up to now. Like I said in another post I am willing to buy a complete cage and just use the front but yet to hear back.
I will chase them up this week again but if not then I will look at other options.
Yeah I had only had the car a matter of days prior to DN10 so it was my 1st outing in it. I do the DN days every year but have always taken the CSL so this was a little different. Looking forward to DN13 as booked that as an end of season treat ;)

Disappointing show from Custom Cages!
I love DN days just very disappointed with their layouts for 11 & 12! Not a huge van of the VLN layout. Might consider the 13 :)
