May I ask why you're looking for a low mileage example as opposed to a higher mileage?

Totally understand. Occasional use will protect your residuals. From experience a number of low mileage csl's up for sale have not maintained BMW servicing time constraints.
Many previously marketed have a huge time gap between their first oil service and Inspection 1. Just something to look out for on your quest.

haha yes

I don't understand why owners didn't have them serviced to book. I looked at a 15k miler before buying mine, and whist it looked immaculate, it had only been serviced once after the running in service! Shame really

That's has become the accepted norm with low mileage examples, don't use it so why service it?
If the read the handbook it tells you why, so you don't invalidate the warranty, seems a good enough reason to me.

Plus old oil just sitting in an engine is never good. Still degrades....

Re the warranty, I've just bought a 30K mile example that has been stored for the last 4 years and hasn't turned a wheel. A full Insp II, new brakes etc are being done as a matter of course but I called Mondial and they said that they would honour an extended warranty provided that any faults are rectified before the warranty is taken out.
I guess they would say that to everybody but the lady I spoke to did have to go and check before telling me that, I would like it in writing from them though!
Do you guys have any opinions on which is the best option? Driveline, named component or comp?

Definitely request the above in writing, with this magnificent car now becoming somewhat elderly mondial will use any legal means to reject a future claim.
With the greatest respect to the customer service department he/she isn't in the position to guarantee a future claim over the phone.
As for cover, comp all the way with a csl with 35K miles.
