Anyone any thoughts on whether or not this would be a good idea as a track day special?

Funnily enough I know that car. Came across it when I was supporting a friend race in track day trophy at setterton in October time

Chatted with Mr De-Jesus who owns it (great name) and seemed a nice guy. Sounds like he has done many races this season.

What was odd was that he clearly had plenty of money or support, with a huge car transporter cross motor home the size of an articulated lorry transporting just the little BMW

From what I saw the car had a few battle scars but seems sound enough. We beat him in the race in our 325i which was more standard but De-Jesus didn't have a clean race.

This car was actually for sale just after the race and had a for sale upon it over the weekend. Believe he wanted £4995 so a little bit cheaper.

May be worth a punt!

No turbo Shim, think it stands for "Touring", from the old 2002 days

They're not sophisticated these first gen Compacts, as they don't have the usual E36 Z-axle multilink suspension and are basically an E30 in disguise, but they're good fun to punt along

Nothing wrong with smaller engines, you just corner faster ;)

It looks like Mike Gordon was looking after it.
Seems a very cheap car and if mike was looking after it all will be good.

i.9 in a 800kg maybe but im guessing 318 is still over 1100kg with a cage

will be like watching paint dry driving down the back traight at Snett, id get an MX5 or a shitty Fiesta if you want fun
