Hey All ,

So i`ve been on the lookout for hunting for an M3 CSL for ages sadly where i live which is in Dubai , United Arab Emirates.
The CSL Was never introduced to the country except for 2 Peices that were sold in the UAE which both Belong to Royal Sheikhs..
The Painful part is that its soo hard to find a Left Hand Drive CSL

Should i just convert my Car to an OEM CSL?

My Ride is 2006 JP90992Vin which is Last year Production for the E46 M3. Shes in Silver Grey Metallic OEM Color, Red Interior and only has 78000KM .

I found 60% of the CSL Parts on ECS Tuning but as far as for the Airbox , CF Roof , Interior , its hopeless :(

some of my friends tell me " It will never be a CSL"

What do you guys think ?

Should i consider flying somewhere and hunting for one or should i just convert mine ?

If you're seriously considering converting an M3 to CSL spec have a word with Ejaz aka '0-60Motorsports' on here, or http://0-60motorsports.com/ he's in Bahrain and has already undertaken a conversion on his.
He will be able to help you source parts and give you a better idea of prices/final costs. ;)

However as your friends have already said "It will never be a CSL" it will always be a replica because of the VIN.

Good luck with the project

Why do you want a CSL ?

It's not that much different to a normal E46 M3.

Sounds like the Royals have great taste. :smokin::hahaha:

Just import one. Not worth converting as its never the same. Plenty available and by the looks of things you are willing to pay good money. Atleast you can then strut you have the same taste in cars as the Royals. Plus it will hold value (if you get it at a decent price).

Hey Diji ,

Nothing over here holds value as the weather does not comply with maintaining the car :(

For Example : If I want to sell my 06 E46 M3 which is currently the lowest KM , Fully serviced in BMW Dealer ill be lucky if I get 14000USD for it

Don't forget that over here the CSL is 03 Build, meaning it can only be insured under 3rd Party. So if you bump into someone you are at your own liability insurance will only cover the other car + if you get hit insurance will only cover you market value

I've checked the website provided suche.mobile.de they are ridiculously overpriced!! ive seen some going for 60 70k EUR lol

Some are really a good example though(Barely Driven)

since when does the CSL over price a 997 GT3 MKII ????

I thought a decent price for a CSL is :

28000-33000GBP
48000-55000USD
41000-50000EUR

Plan B would be :

Get whatever I can find OEM and fill my desire with the

Karbonius Airbox + OEM Snorkel + OEM Parts ...

im actually working with EJAZ 0-60 motorsports on this to see on what I should start on first.

CSL prices will hold strong due to the limited supply compared with the GT3. GT3 is a good car, but there are no shortages of it (well, unless you are looking for a 4.0).

I have 3 friends with E46 M3 with airbox, carbon roof etc. All still desire the real thing. Nothing beats factory item whatever people say.

Yes, E46 M3 are cheap as chips as again supply is abundant.

P.S. Sounds like you have made up your mind. Go for it, but be warned, you will not get a penny back from the build as in the end its just another E46 M3 with some wannabe CSL bits (Sorry to sound harsh, but when it comes time to sell, buyers in general view it as a regular M3. My friend is experiencing this first hand right now!)

The 991 GT3's are more or less unobtainable and going for 30k over original price.

Bizarrely enough the new 991GT3 RS is actually cheaper than the current cost of the 991 GT3.

The 997 GT3 also costs the same or more than it did when new.

The CSL is rarer and no doubt will increase in value, but it is not back to it's 60 grand original asking price.

How long do we think it will be to reach the PP?

Gaith, Buy your friends real CSL and sell your M3 if you really want the real deal...

Or just do as I recommended with the Karbonious intake, cams, etc.... :)

Thanks for the kind words mate. I have loved building my CSL rep and Absolutely love it and cant wait for the 380/272 cams :) .

Like i have said to Gaith if I had the extra extra cash lying around i would buy a real CSL but i will never be as attached to it as my M3. Next car is going to be an E30 M3, God Willing.

I'm not as experienced here as some, but I have had both, I had an E46 M3 smg for 6 years and now have a CSL. When I got the CSL i was shocked that the capability of the CSL to go round a corner was in the E46 all that time... I almost felt cheated by BMW, as they could have given that bit with some tweaks to all owners, perhaps that's what a CS owner has? The steering rack I find makes a big difference in agility. I think the lack of weight means you can use that rack, but the extra weight in the standard M3 could make that a handful I expect for average driver ( me) :hahaha:

I guess if you have a car you could make some small mod's but I expect the cost will mount up £££. But and it's a big but! you won't have the noise and that real feeling that a bunch of guys in GMBH sat down and thought. "right how can I make this thing the best I can make it. The only down side for me is I don't drive it often, because you feel you might lose value. Ironic as mine is good, but not perfect, and you only live once. I drove my old E46 everyday. even when I worked for VW group.. I must drive my CSL more this year.. I scrapped together the funds for mine, at the expense of a house extension.. I love it. if you have the funds it's quite special for the money. all the GT3's seem to have shot up and look at the lap time for the GT3 mk1 and the M3CSL I think it's still a bargain, you can feel the attention to detail, does a GT3 have carbon door cards? no.. and so on. There are not many and it's still not in many peoples mind when they think about the Clubsport car.

anyway quite a lot there .. I pondered for ages, drive a couple and decide after. you may not likes the seats :hahaha:
