I was collecting my new daily from Cooper Teesside BMW yesterday :)
I get on well with the salesman so he very kindly let me have a quick play in the new i8

Never ever been in a hybrid of any sort before , but in this instance I love it. Amazing car really, slightly weird starting the car and driving off with no noise etc , but when the petrol engine starts up in sounds like a V8. Seemless transition when the petrol & electric work together. Has some punch too , nothing like my modded 996 turbo, but still quick.
Its a wonderful showcase of new technology.
If I had the money I'd buy one over a 991 and use it as a daily ... its even got good sized rear seats for the kids  . It is a bugger to get in & out of though !
As it is, I don't have the money so will have to make do with the CSL and a diesel bmw for daily duties
certainly looks great!

Exqueezzmee !?!? :119: You do realise it's a 2+2 tiny futuristic coupe with a (BMW) Mini 3 cylinder petrol engine, shit loads of heavy batteries and complicated electrical components with a £100,000 + price tag... right ? ;)

Yeah, you can get a lot of fossil burners for £100k. The tech is impressive though, quite like the 918 spyder. While we are talking tree hugging got passed by a Tesla S the other day.

What the tree huggers forget is that the energy for the batteries has to come from somewhere.

Yeah, completely agree! Ironically our old trucks go to Africa, Cockenzie power station has just been closed and shipped to India or Pakistan. Just shifting the shit air quality elsewhere.

Exactly mate. All this Plug In Hybrid B.S. makes it sound as if electricity is free and supplied directly from thin air :clown:
I can not help myself but laugh out loud every time I see these environmentally misguided knobs driving around Central London in these G-Wizz contraptions while their Supercharged RR SPORT is driven just outside the C.C. Zone by their nanny on the numerous school runs and down to Waitrose for the tri weekly shop.

Tree-hugers rejoice, Hydrogen is the way of the future! I wonder will they do a conversion kit? But the best doesn't always win out, remember; VHS v Beta-max.

Trouble is the majority of decisions made by politicians are boll**s & the average punter has to pick up the bill.

Saw a white one today at Elms & thought it looked nice. Will it date only time will tell. Walked inside to ask about a test drive. Only went 5 yards & then thought sh*t it's only a milk float with a nice body and left. Ended up buying a mini for the mrs

Just sitting inside one of the demonstrators @ Elms was enough to put me off even asking for a test drive. I'd imagine some people are impressed due to the novelty factor.
To me it's just a very expensive milk floats dressed up as Super car.
While the i3 it's not my cup of T either, it seems more of an honest statement of intent... if you like that sort of thing ;)
