As title says. Does anyone know this car? On ebay at the moment and trying to get a p/x for my e60 m5. Any info?

Also looking at the X222 JAP SG csl but that is just too good to be true, must be something up with it?

Cheers

I've already e-mailed Derek about it. :smt023

Yeh I would much prefer to buy from an enthusiast. A couple of choice mods would be ideal also, mainly brakes as I plan to use it for what it's intended.

Personally I would never buy a car off eBay.

Derek's old one would be mint.

Derek's csl could well be off to pasture's new. the narrative in the ad has all the necessary must haves's. I would certainly be viewing if in the market for a cesil. The SB is definitely growing on me...despite having owned 3 SG's!!

You've said that before Matt but as yet U haven't elaborated on exactly what's wrong with that CSL, despite a few guys on here asking about it ?
This might be a good time for you to let us all know the reasons why (in your opinion) it appears to be cheap & shit

I would write an add on here but it wouldn't let me for some reason?

Yep sure. Spoken to a few people here via PM. Here are my thoughts on X222 JAP

I wanted a CSL circa £30k and this looked good on paper. Rang the guy and had a lengthy chat and he sent me all history through.

Firstly the guy seemed very unprofessional in discussion. This put me off
I ask about condition of car. He said it has some scratches and dents but is cheap. No plans to fix
I asked if he was open to offers when it was up at £30k. He instantly dropped to £27k. Odd
Says one owner but is two - it's one previous
FSH isn't FSH. It stops around 50k I think with a few local invoices like from Kwik Fit since

To me it looks to have been a previously well looked after genuine car that has fallen into less desirable hands. I possibly think it is / was his to blast around in

No sign of any proper work done and boot floor not done

Fix bodywork, reduce value for lack of service history, budget for repairs and it's then quite an expensive motor. That's why I didn't bother going to see it.

It could be a gem, and if someone dares buy it and I'm wrong I will buy them many pints, but if you sink nearly £30k into this fella you taking one hell of a risk

Good CSLs sell quickly. This has been around for about a year. That says it all

Nick Johnson was advertising HV04 a year ago for £29K, and with about 1000 less miles. Don't know any more than that...

Think when I was looking for an Evo 6 this guy had one, I checked his full stock list. It's extensive, if you had a couple of hundred thousand pounds worth of stock would you grudge a few £k on servicing?
Don't quite understand the reasoning behind your boot floor comment!?

THANX for a full explanation Matt
Incomplete service history & poor overall condition on a specialist car like the CSL are a definite "No Nos" :banghead:

E46 M3's are renowned for having problems with the rear sub frame where it meets the boot area, developing anything from hairline to near enough tearing themselves apart. Last I heard most dealers were replacing these free of charge, which is fortunate as it's a lengthy process.
