Shouldnt be a difficult situation to be in , but its starting to frustrate me ...

So, sold my 2010 Range Rover as couldnt face the depreciation :bigcry:

So have upto £30K to get myself a new daily , but it has to be a non depreciating one

We have a 5 series coming for general running about / family duties etc circ 20K miles per year

I have a couple of classics already + my CSL ( averaging 4K miles per year in teh CSL)

So, choices are , I start using the CSL as my daily driver and make the most of the warranty I pay for , but it would mean adding 10K miles per year and the wife cant / wont drive it as she struggles to see over the steering wheel :hahaha:

Or, ideally I buy another car that is non / very low depreciating

Car need to seat 4 ( so I can do the school run occasionally ) choices so far have come down to :

Porsche 964 C2
Porsche 993 C2

Or a sell the CSL & add its cash into the pot & get something like a 997 GT3 and one car to fit the role as my daily / toy

have also thought about buying a £5K vehicle instead, maybe a scooby

Any other suggestions for cars that would ?

The children wouldn't thank you for the school run in the back of a Porsche, depending on how old they are, it could be 'cool' but would leave a lasting impression of being confined in a very small place. I speak from experience!

I wouldn't worry about them ;) ( although they did cry when I told them I'd sold the Rangy ! )

They've done the school run, which is a 40 mile round trip , in a number of different 911's from my 1973 car through to my old modded 996 turbo , the CSL and even my old '67 Landrover ( now that one was hardwork for both driver & kids :hahaha: )

C63 - buy a 1-2 yr old car right and depreciation shouldn't toooo bad. Very very entertaining car. I'd have another.

1M - not all that tbh, but do look good and hold their money well. Quick. More than £30k though.

Alpina D5 - looks cool. A bit more than £30k.

B7 RS4 - sound great. look great. But not as quick as should be.

M135i or Golf R - both with uber-cheap lease deals that make walking look expensive!

What about a 996 Turbo?

Buy a £5k nice scooby, winter tyres and wheels for winter use.

So much fun around the lanes, cheap, cheerful.

One of my customers has a sport back thingy one, on an 06 plate. He loves it and it gets serviced regular as clockwork by us. But he's not bothered if he returns to it after picking kids up from school and there is a car park ding.

Parks it anywhere and he says that compared to his expensive stuff it has made daily commuting actually a pleasure again.

Funny Lawsy each & every winter I think of doing the very same thing. Got to be a bit of fun for very humble money and proper 4WD as well.

used to have a forrester as a daily , loved it & only needed a wheel bearing in 100K miles ... bit cheap on teh inside, but a real chuckable car on the country lanes

Suggested an impreza to the wife ..... showed her a nice photo of a P1 and she wasnt impressed :hahaha: something about big spoilers & baseball caps

You drive an M3 and she is worried about your image;)

The M3 is also now in the 'chav' bracket unfortunately as the prices have dropped so much. The CSL is not but most cannot tell the difference. I would get the Subaru and just live with the wife's complaints and just try and dress a little more smartly to offset the chav image - brogues and a shirt although brogues are not really the best driving shoes :hahaha:

27mpg? if on tick over on a tow truck maybe..
Evo's are great cars but on the standard management they have terrible fuel economy,

best i ever get out of my 400bhp evo 6 is 20mpg sat on the motorway at 70mph..

Id go for a nice audi s6 avant for 12-15k, Infact it's probably my next dd, v10 engine, ceramic brakes, luxury and discreet looks...
It will loose some money and will cost a bit in fuel but will be a great all weather work horse..

RS6 if you want to blow 25+ of your budget..

Porsche 993 will probably appreciate in value if you have short kids..

bit of an update :)

Took a while, and ultimately I had to go to Germany to find my perfect car

1993 model, Porsche 964 C2 manual gearbox. 1993 model, means factory teardrops, factory cups , airbag dash, updated engine design ( no oil leaks ). The car is all stock, except years ago Porsche fitted some spacers to the rear hubs.

black with magenta interior ( incl headlining ) .. rare combination

LHD ( My preferred option in an air cooled 911)

No sunroof

No rear wiper

Air-con

Speced from the factory with heated sport seat for the driver and comfort seat for the passenger

Original stereo, all the tool kit, tyre pump, first aid etc etc. 88k miles, 4 owners.... Last owner 15 years + and he bought it form his local OPC.

It's straight, no accident car.
I fell in love with the interior

The pictures don't do the interior justice ... Also the car is unwashed.

That is a sweet, sweet choice. Love the interior too. Nice work. Be interested to hear about the reliability and running costs as you use it as a daily. But I love the interior and it looks like a clean car. Congrats.

In other news, my most recent GTR has now broken down 3 times in 4 weeks... :bigcry:

Thought the R35 was meant to be solid as a rock in terms of reliability (with potential gearbox issues when used very hard)?

Bilstein adjustable pss10's fitted all round, set to 964RS spec +5mm

Final silencer replaced with a G-pipe
